YUNGBLUD has opened up about his school years, recalling how he was often labeled “wild,” “out of control,” and even “dangerous.” The singer admitted he was either loved or hated by classmates, while his boundless energy left many adults unsure how to handle him.
Growing up in Northern England, he said people constantly tried to “tone down” his spirit. One particularly scarring moment came when a teacher publicly shamed him for painting his nails, leaving him questioning himself. The passive-aggressive remarks from peers and adults, he revealed, were some of the most painful experiences of his youth.
But amid the negativity, one teacher—his drama coach, Mr. Yet—recognized YUNGBLUD’s intensity as a gift. He encouraged the young rebel to channel his passion into performance, ultimately transforming what others saw as a flaw into a “superpower.”
From an early age, YUNGBLUD knew he belonged on stage, whether as a teacher or a global rockstar. Inspired by bold icons like David Bowie, Eminem, and Lady Gaga, he set out to create a space where being unapologetically yourself is celebrated, not shamed.
