Stephen Curry’s family is expecting a new addition in the coming months.
Curry’s wife, Ayesha, revealed in an interview with Brianne Garrett of Sweet July magazine that the couple is expecting their fourth child. They are already parents to two daughters, 11-year-old Riley and eight-year-old Ryan, and one son, five-year-old Canon.
Ayesha told Garrett that she and Steph initially “thought we were done” having kids after Canon’s birth, but the couple decided last year that “somebody was missing.”
“For me, the decision came from always finding myself looking around and feeling like somebody was missing. I would load up the car and think, ‘Oh, I forgot something.’ But nobody was forgotten,” Ayesha said. “It started to turn my brain a little bit. Maybe somebody was missing. So we set out on this journey, knowing that this would complete our family.”
While Ayesha and Steph live busy lives, they always make time for their family.
Steph even revealed in an October interview with People magazine that he has introduced all three of his children to all kinds of sports. However, he said he doesn’t want to pressure them, so it’s been a slow process.
“We’re all backyard sports right now,” Steph said. “Nothing too organized. Especially for Canon, he’s only 5. So we’ve got plenty of time. He’s an all-sports type of dude. But his attention span is just like a 5-year-old’s.”
He added: “It’s more just confidence building and their ability to find joy in everything they do. I think that’s a huge part of kids these days, not feeling too much pressure on having to be successful or keep up with their counterparts.”
Steph is currently in the middle of a tough season with the Golden State Warriors, which sit 10th in the Western Conference with a 31-27 record. The team is fighting to get itself into the playoff picture, but it’s been an uphill battle.
Steph is still playing well despite the struggles, averaging 27.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 55 games while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 41.1 percent from beyond the arc.
If the Warriors end up securing a postseason berth for the third straight season, Steph will be a big reason why.
