Back in 1993, Michael Jordan shocked the entire world by announcing his retirement from basketball in his prime. Having lost the competitive spirit in basketball, he decided to try baseball. But before making his decision to join the White Sox, Jordan toyed with the idea of trying his hand at football.
According to CBS Sports, before announcing his retirement from basketball, Jordan revealed in an interview that he would be open to trying out other sports in the future, like football. Jordan also added that he would be playing as a wide receiver. This also comes from his past because Jordan was a multi-sport athlete in high school and had played football back then.
Although Jordan wanted to play the wide receiver role, in one instance he has shown his quarterbacking skills as well. Along with his competitiveness, Michael Jordan also had the physical abilities to achieve this. Around the time he was contemplating the idea of trying out a different sport, Jordan once threw a football 65 yards just to prove he could do it.
Jordan challenged himself and proved to everyone watching that he could indeed throw a pinpoint pass at 65 yards. But there are also consequences when Jordan’s competitiveness is not kept in check. One time, Michael Jordan made one of his sons take a trip to the ER over football.

As explained by Marcus Jordan during an episode of the Breakfast Club podcast, once when Marcus and Jeffrey were playing tackle football with Michael Jordan inside their house, Michael’s competitiveness might have taken over a little bit as he tackled Jeffrey into a glass table that was in their room. Jeffrey started bleeding heavily, and according to him, he had to get almost 30 stitches afterward.
