LOS ANGELES, CA – APRIL 22: Tee Morant, father of Ja Morant #12 of the Memphis Grizzlies, attends the game against Los Angeles Lakers of Round 1 Game 3 of the 2023 NBA Playoffs at Crypto.com Arena on April 22, 2023 in Los Angeles, California.

Tee Morant, the father of Ja Morant, has gotten really honest about his son’s situation with the NBA, holding the point guard accountable while speaking to kids at the Up Next Elite Camp in New Orleans.

Morant will miss a third of the upcoming NBA season following a second suspension stemming from gun-related videos on social media.

“My son didn’t get in trouble for people around him — he got in trouble for his decisions,” he said. “So always be mindful of every decision y’all make, because it can pretty much take over you and consume you and make you think that you’re who you’re not. … I’m just telling y’all, just make the right decisions, alright?”

Morant’s first suspension was handed down after he brandished a pistol while at a Denver strip joint in an Instagram Live video. He returned to the Grizzlies to end the season but, 10 weeks later, he was seen flashing a gun in another IG Live clip.

The guard will miss the first 25 games of the 2023/24 NBA season.
