Michael Jordan ‘doesn’t understand’ why Horace Grant has made such a scathing attack on both himself and The Last Dance documentary, though insists he ‘holds no grudge’ against his old Chicago Bulls teammate.
The 10-part series is already one of the most watched sports documentaries ever, reliving MJ’s pursuit of a sixth NBA Championship ring – and second three-peat – in his final season with the Bulls.
However, there has been some criticism of how much the show glorifies Jordan while side-lining some of his teammates, with Grant hitting out at the ‘so-called documentary’ and claiming ‘90% of it was BS in terms of the realness of it’.

Grant – who won three titles with MJ for the Bulls before leaving in 1994 – also called his old teammate a ‘snitch’ and a ‘liar’, with Jordan stunned by the furious reaction.
ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith appeared on First Take on Wednesday and revealed he had spoken to MJ about the comments the previous night, recounting their conversation: ‘When you talk about Horace Grant’s relationship with Michael Jordan, of course I spoke to Michael Jordan yesterday, he says he harbours no animosity, holds no grudge against Horace Grant.
‘But clearly there were issues in the past. He pointed to the 1993 season, following the Olympics in Barcelona, the original Dream Team, when they came back from there Phil Jackson usually had two-a-days, even though he usually had two-a-days days, he said that Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan only had to go through one-a-days because they had participated in the Olympics in Barcelona.
‘And Horace Grant had a problem with that, alluding to the fact that there were different rules for different folks, there were double standards, and he didn’t feel it was right.
‘We saw in the docu-series where Will Perdue was highlighting how Horace Grant felt like he wasn’t appreciated enough and he had a problem with that, so there is some real residue from that which Michael Jordan acknowledged.
‘As he said to me, you could see on the docu-series when Will Perdue was talking about it along with others.
‘But he doesn’t understand where this is coming from and Michael Jordan’s mentality is that he’s been telling nothing but the truth from his perspective. If anybody has got a problem with that, so be it, but that’s his truth.’
On ex-Bulls players not liking how Jordan-centric the show is, Smith added: ‘The players need to understand this: Nobody would give a damn about The Last Dance if Michael Jordan wasn’t the guy who’s speaking about it. If he wasn’t a part of it, it would not have mattered. That is the reality of the situation.
‘So yes it might not be a quote-unquote documentary series from a conventional perspective but make no mistake about it, it is from Jordan’s perspective and Jordan’s perspective is what matters to the vast majority of folks out here.’
