Stephen Curry’s wife Ayesha Curry has sparked controversy due to an inappropriate and insensitive joke she made about cheating. While appearing on “Girl Chat,” Ayesha made a remark about infidelity when a shirtless male waiter came to serve their drinks. She jokingly mentioned taking off her wedding ring and, when she couldn’t, attempted to hide it.
Although Ayesha intended it as a joke, many social media users, particularly fans of Curry, did not appreciate her actions being broadcasted to a wide audience.
While it was clear that she was joking, many felt that the timing was inappropriate and that making light of something that destroys families was insensitive.
One Twitter user expressed disappointment, stating that they had previously admired Ayesha and considered her a role model but found her recent behavior disappointing.
“Ugh. I liked Ayesha. Even at one point she was a role model,” Twitter user @adarathexplorer wrote.
“This is disappointing. Marriage vows and fidelity aren’t a joke. Fake taking your ring off or pushing it back on further (can’t tell) is so wild to me. I think she’s a beautiful woman just took it too far with this.”
Another Twitter account posed a question to their followers, comparing Ayesha to Brittany Mahomes, the controversial wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“People may find Mahomes wife annoying but there’s no questions about her loyalty and devotion to he and their family,” @NoMoreMatrix said. “Can we absolutely say the same about Ayesha?”
Meanwhile, a third added: “You can win 5 championships, make hundreds of millions of dollars, toned muscles, president and ex president of the country knows you, all the girls want you around the world, Lebron is jealous of your game but you still can’t satisfy Ayesha curry.”
