NBA commissioner Adam Silver has revealed why Josh Giddey is still playing despite the troubling allegations made against the OKC guard.
Giddey has been accused of sleeping with a minor, with investigations ongoing. However, the probe has not affected his playing time and he continues to suit up for the Thunder.
Silver was questioned by Malika Andrews about the league’s investigation on ESPN’s ‘NBA Today’ this week and was also quizzed on why the league has allowed the Australian to play amid the allegations.
The commissioner explained the decision with claims that the NBA typically takes a back seat whenever there is a criminal investigation involved and rarely suspends players simply based on accusations.
“I can’t think of many circumstances where we’ve suspended a player based on an allegation alone… where there is a criminal investigation, we take a backseat… That’s where things currently stand.”

Giddey, 21, stands accused of having an intimate relationship with a high school girl, with pictures and videos of them together surfacing online recently. Neither he nor the Thunder have addressed the matter publicly.
