Tennessee Vols expected to receive visit from transfer WR that played in the College Football Playoff t

The Tennessee Vols appear to be in the mix for transfer wide receiver that just recently competed in the College Football Playoff.

Penn State Nittany Lions wide receiver Omari Evans entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday.

Evans told On3 that he plans to visit Tennessee, as well as Washington, Texas Tech, and Syracuse (the Vols will open the 2025 season against Syracuse).

Evans is a former three-star recruit from Killeen, TX who signed with Penn State during the 2022 recruiting cycle. He was rated as the No. 59 wide receiver in the nation.

The 6-foot/190 lb wide receiver saw limited action during his first two seasons at Penn State before enjoying a breakout season in 2024. Evans caught 21 passes for 415 yards, and five touchdowns this past season.

Tennessee is looking to add to its wide receiver depth after losing Kaleb Webb, Chas Nimrod, Squirrel White, and Nathan Leacock to the transfer portal. The Vols are also losing Dont’e Thornton and Bru McCoy to the NFL draft.

UT added Alabama transfer wide receiver Amari Jefferson earlier this month.
