However, Sony producer Amy Pascal confirmed that not only will he be returning but the plan is to have him star in another three films.
She told Fandango in an interview published Monday: ‘This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel โ [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie.
‘We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.’

Up in the air? Many have wondered what Holland’s future is with the franchise after ahead of the release of his third film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, in a matter of weeks, as he is seen in West Hollwood earlier this month
However, Sony producer Amy Pascal (seen in January 2020) confirmed that not only will he be returning but the plan is to have him star in another three films as she told Fandango: ‘We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel’
The move would make Holland the longest tenured Spider-Man of all-time as Tobey Maguire starred in three Sam Raimi films from 2002 to 2007 and Andrew Garfield starred as the character in two Marc Webb films from 2012 to 2014.
It is important to note that the character of Spider-Man has a deal with Sony but in 2015 it was announced that they had made a deal with Disney and Marvel Studios to share film rights so the character could be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There was a brief termination of the agreement years later in September 2019 but after fan outcry there was a new agreement in place that would bring Spider-Man back to complete the trilogy in line with the MCU.

Pascal confirmed that the collaboration between the two production companies will continue as she said: ‘Yes, Marvel and Sony are going to keep going together as partners.’
She has been very open in her enthusiasm over Holland in the Spider-Man/Peter Parker role as she told GQ in a profile about the actor earlier this month that she has spoken with him about ‘doing like 100 more’ films.
Pascal said: ‘I’m never going to make Spider-Man movies without him. Are you kidding me?’
Holland seemed unsure about his future in the franchise at the time as he even suggested that perhaps it is time to do a film centered around the Afro-Latino Spider-Man character Miles Morales.
The British star said: ‘I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life.

The British star was unsure if he would come back as Peter Parker as he told GQ: ‘I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life.’
‘If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.’
The latest flick will be centered around Spider-Man’s identity of Peter Parker being revealed and him asking Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) for help but dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear when a spell goes wrong.
Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Jamie Foxx, J.K. Simmons, Benedict Wong, and J.B. Smoove are all star in the film.
