Rod Stewart’s 80th-Birthday Show Stops Cold as Sons Alastair, 19, and Aiden

Rod Stewart recently enjoyed the company of some of his favorite fans in the crowd at a performance. Over the weekend, the legendary rocker posed for a sweet backstage photo with his two youngest sons.

Stewart’s son Alastair, 19, shared the rare snap on his Instagram, featuring himself, his younger brother Aiden, 14, and their 80-year-old rockstar father. The trio were all smiles in the picture.

Stewart is seen sitting between his children, whom he shares with wife Penny Lancaster. He affectionately placed one arm on Aiden’s leg and the other around Alastair’s shoulder. Alastair also included video footage from Stewart’s performance in the post, which the teen appeared to have recorded from the audience.

Alastair simply captioned the moment with a red heart emoji. Their mother, Lancaster, sweetly commented on the post, writing, “My boys xx.”

In addition to Alastair and Aiden, Stewart is a father to six other children. His large family includes four daughters: Sarah, 61, Kimberly, 46, Ruby, 38, and Renee, 33. He also has two older sons, Sean, 45, and Liam, 31.

Stewart welcomed his eldest child, Sarah, with ex-girlfriend Susannah Boffey. He shares daughter Kimberly and son Sean with his ex-wife Alana Stewart, and daughter Ruby with his ex-girlfriend Kelly Emberg. During his marriage to ex-wife Rachel Hunter, Stewart welcomed Renee and Liam.

The singer’s wife, Penny Lancaster, 54, spoke to the British magazine Saga in September about the early days of their relationship. The actress and model revealed that Stewart, who at the time was already a father of six, initially did not want to have any more children.

Lancaster explained that she knew she wanted children of her own, and would have ended things with the “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” singer had he not changed his mind. “Yes [I would have left him]. And that would have been very hard. But we just went with the flow,” she told the outlet. “Now Rod always says, ‘I wish I’d said yes [to babies] earlier, because then we could have had more children.’”

The star added that as recently as five years ago, she and Stewart had discussed the possibility of adopting a child. However, she noted that “it ended up not happening.” “We thought there might be too much of an age gap,” she explained.
