In a letter to fans, new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wrote about his goals. That same day, INEOS sports director Sir Dave Brailsford watched from the stands at Old Trafford as United was booed after falling behind by two goals.
But Alejandro Garnacho scored to tie the game for United, and Hojlund scored his first league goal on the 15th try to give United a 3-2 win in the 82nd minute.

He said, “I wanted to write to you at this time given the critical role of the fans to the future of Manchester United as we recognize our responsibility as custodians of the club on your behalf.” The 71-year-old made it clear that he wanted to bring success back to Old Trafford.
“I believe we can bring sporting success to the pitch to go along with the club’s undeniable financial success.” It will take time, patience, strictness, and the best-skilled management possible.
“You and I both have big goals for Manchester United.” As with anything in sports, there are no promises, and things can take time to change. But we are here for the long haul, and we all want to help Manchester United get back to the top of English, European, and global football. This is a very important duty for me.
“Please note that, as with any deal, it needs to be approved by the relevant authorities. As a result, we will not be able to talk about the club in public until the deal is finalized.”
