Ozzy Osbourne documentary postponed by the BBC hours before airing

A BBC documentary about the final chapter of the life of Ozzy Osbourne has been postponed, hours before it was set to air on primetime TV.

The Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home film had been set to be broadcast on BBC One at 9pm on August 18th, but it was pulled from the schedule at the last minute and replaced with an episode of Fake or Fortune?, a series on the channel about art history.

No official reason has been given for the postponement of the documentary, except that a representative for the BBC confirmed to the Mirror that it had been “moved in the schedules” and “new premiere details will be shared in due course”.

The documentary is set to provide fans an intimate insight into Osbourne over the course of the final three years of his life, up until the point of his passing on July 22nd, at the age of 76.

The original synopsis for the film, released by the BBC, said that it “captures the extraordinary roller-coaster of their lives as Sharon and Ozzy attempt to complete their long-held dream of moving back to the UK, Ozzy heroically battles to get fit enough to perform, and the family deal with the dramatic consequences of his ill-health.”

Osbourne miraculously managed to give his triumphant final performance mere weeks before his death on July 5th, at Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning gig.

It was clear at the time that the Prince of Darkness had overcome stark odds to perform at the event, which was pulled into even sharper focus following his death from a heart attack shortly afterwards.

The documentary is not the only Osbourne-themed project in the works, however, as a biopic about the love story between him and Sharon Osbourne is allegedly still on the cards, with his family’s blessing.

A new broadcast date for Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home has not yet been confirmed.
