Football fans are accusing the NFL refs of “rigging” the Philadelphia Eagles-Washington Commanders NFC Championship Game after a strange detail about head official Shawn Hochuli came to light.
Hochuli and his crew were assigned the NFC Championship Game between the two NFC East rivals. The Eagles cruised to a 55-23 victory, punching their third ticket to the Super Bowl in eight seasons.
After the game, David Chabot and the popular ML Football X/Twitter account noted that the Eagles have improved to 7-0 in games officiated by Hochuli:
After this tweet was posted, fans accused the NFL refs of rigging the game in favor of Saquon Barkley and the Eagles.
“Postgame celebration leaked,” a fan wrote with a photoshopped image of the Eagles hugging one of the NFL refs.
“Well yea he tried to get eagles a free score for bad behavior,” wrote another.
“NFL should be ashamed of itself! That was BAD,” said a fan.
“Rigged,” wrote another fan.
“@Chiefs2.0,” quipped one user.
“Officials favoring the Eagles the whole game,” said a fan.
The Eagles will face the winner of the Buffalo Bills-Kansas City Chiefs AFC Championship Game in Super Bowl 59.
The Commanders were indeed on the wrong end of several calls, but the defense was a no-show for practically the entire game. They also lost the turnover battle 4-0, and that proved to be the real difference.
