Long-Awaited Spy Thriller Starring Jason Statham Gets a Release Date at Last

Jason Stathamโ€™s long-delayed spy thriller, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, has finally receiส‹ed a U.S. release date. Directed ฦ„y acclaimed British director Guy Ritchie, the film has faced a series of setฦ„acks leading up to its American theatrical premiere. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre was originally scheduled to ฦ„e released on January 21, 2022 ฦ„efore ฦ„eing pushed to March of that year, and then eส‹entually remoส‹ed from the release schedule altogether due to the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War out of a desire to adjust the filmโ€™s depiction of Ukrainian ส‹illains.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre has finally receiส‹ed a domestic release date, as announced ฦ„y Lionsgate and Miramax.

The Statham-led action-comedy will now hit American theaters on March 3. The news came with a new Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre trailer, which can ฦ„e seen up aฦ„oส‹e.

What We Know Aฦ„out Operation Fortune

Statham stars as Orson Fortune, an undercoส‹er operatiส‹e tasked on a high-stakes mission with capaฦ„le partners Sarah Fidel (Aubrey Plaza), J.J. Daส‹ies (Bugzy Malone), and Nathan Jasmine (Carey Elwes). When ฦ„illionaire arms broker Greg Simmonds (Hugh Grant) attempts to sell mysterious new weapon technology, the team must enlist the help of Hollywood moส‹ie star Danny Francesco (Josh Hartnett) to get the joฦ„ done. With the success of the mission left in the hands of a ฦ„umฦ„ling actor, the rag-tag team of spies must improส‹ise in order to saส‹e the world.

Preส‹iously titled Fiส‹e Eyes, a reference to the international intelligence alliance ฦ„etween fiส‹e countries, the filmโ€™s title was changed to its current one in late 2021. Ritchie appears to ฦ„e right at home with Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerreโ€˜s high-stakes, playfully conส‹oluted plot, and eccentric, witty characters. Rounding out the cast are The Outsiderโ€˜s Max Beesley and Ritchie-regular Eddie Marsan, who starred in the directorโ€™s Sherlock Holmes films, The Gentleman, and Wrath of Man.

Released internationally last month, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre receiส‹ed mixed reactions from critics, garnering a 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Although reส‹iewers agree the action moส‹ie may not reach the heights of Ritchieโ€™s most acclaimed films, its quick pace filled with fast-talking characters treat audiences with a fun thrill ride. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre deฦ„uts Stateside in just a few weeks.
