Late-Game Struggles Cost Phoenix Suns in Heartbreaking 104-102 Loss to San Antonio Spurs

Following a 104-102 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Monday night at Frost Bank Center, the San Antonio Spurs are back on top.

The Spurs defeated the Suns, who had won their previous match by a score of 25, despite playing without Victor Wembanyama, who missed tonight’s game due to an ankle injury.

With four minutes remaining, the Spurs led by eight points, but the Suns managed to keep the game close. The Suns led going into the last seconds thanks to a 9-0 run.

When the game came down to the dying seconds, Jeremy Sochan made the game-winning 3-pointer to give the Spurs a two-point lead. Sochan led the way with 26 points and 18 rebounds to lead the team in Wembanyama’s absence. The Spurs still had to thwart the Suns on their last possession, though.

Both Devin Booker and Kevin Durant had good shots from beyond the 3-point line to extend their lead, but neither was able to put the ball in the back of the net. With 36 points, Booker led all scorers, followed by Durant’s 29.

With three wins in four games, the Spurs have now defeated the Suns in the season series. After tonight’s game, the Spurs are 13-55 versus the rest of the league and 3-1 against the Suns.
