Key player ruled out for Tennessee Vols against Mississippi State Bulldogs t

When the Tennessee Vols take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday night Neyland Stadium, they’ll be without a key player.

Vols redshirt freshman running back DeSean Bishop has been ruled out for the Mississippi State game according to Tennessee’s first injury report of the week.

Bishop, who left Tennessee’s win against Kentucky last

weekend due to injury, is the primary backup to starting running back Dylan Sampson.

Through eight games this season, Bishop has 372 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Bishop walked off the field during the Vols’ win against the Wildcats last Saturday night and never returned to the game. The ESPN broadcast never showed a replay of what happened, so it’s unclear what kind of injury the running back is dealing with.

True freshman Peyton Lewis replaced Bishop against Kentucky, rushing for 24 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Lewis will likely be the primary backup to Sampson against Mississippi State with Bishop out.

While I’m sorry to hear that Bishop is suffering a setback to his illustrious beginning to his Vol football career, it’s an opportunity for Lewis to put his best foot forward, to make his presence felt on the playing field. He’s got great upside to his potential to bring the hammer to opposing defenses. Great size and strength to pound the rock! He’s not the flash n dash style of Sampson, but he can bring a different look to the game. I hope he’ll be able to make some plays, and establish an identity on the Vols offense. We need developments in being more consistent from start to finish of the games. It’s time to back this TEAM, and ENCOURAGE every player to be able to perform at their highest potential, as they GIVE THEIR ALL FOR TENNESSEE!

Go VOLS go!!
