Kevin Hart fired back at Katt Williams for accusing him of “stealing” his role

Katt Williams renewed a longtime feud with Kevin Hart in a January interview on Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast

Kevin Hart is responding to a significant amount of criticism fellow comedian Katt Williams recently tossed his way.

While speaking with WSJ. Magazine for its spring 2024 men’s fashion issue, Hart, 44, was asked about Williams, 52, who recently reprised a long-running feud between the two men when he questioned whether Hart’s career success was organic and criticized movie roles Hart takes during a January appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast.

“It’s just that. It’s entertainment,” Hart told the outlet when asked about Williams’ criticisms of Hart’s career choices. “If that’s what he fuels himself off, God bless him. Good for him. I hope he gets all that he needs and he wants, and I’m here cheering for him from afar.”

“That’s my real energy. I really mean it!” he added. “That’s how happy and secure I am with my career and my life.

During Williams’ recent podcast appearance with Sharpe, he levied criticisms against Hart’s work and claimed that Hart refuses to be in the same building as him, seemingly implying Hart is afraid of him.

“For a five year period, every single movie that Kevin Hart did was a movie that had been on my desk that all I had said was ‘Just can we take some of this step and fetching s— out and then I can do it?’ ” Williams said during that podcast. He suggested that Hart routinely took movie roles from him after Williams would ask for script revisions before signing on to a project.

“And me saying that and them going ‘oh yeah, no problem’ and then going to give it to this other guy and having him do it just like it was and acting like I’m a bad person because I keep standing on my standards,” he added at the time. “It’s interesting, but I wouldn’t change it for the world – again, I’m on the winning side of these decisions.”

Williams also called Hart a “gatekeeper” into the comedy industry during the interview. “Didn’t Kevin open the gate and let Tiffany in?” He said, seemingly referring to Tiffany Haddish. “Ain’t he now opening it up for such and such? What do you mean there are no gatekeepers?”

Williams has seemingly held a long-running grudge against Hart and Haddish, among other comedians in the entertainment industry. Back in 2018, the comedian complained in a radio interview that comedians like Haddish, 44, Hart and others did not deserve the success they had found so quickly in their careers, leading Hart to say that Williams should “take responsibility” for his own career in response.
