Justin Jefferson Says Referees Missed “A Lot” of Holding Calls During Vikings’ Loss to Lions

The Minnesota Vikings lost their chance to win the NFC North in Detroit on Sunday night, dropping their second game of the season to coach Dan Campbell’s Lions.

The Vikings now must hit the road to take on Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams on Monday, Jan. 13 in the first round of the playoffs in hopes of getting a third shot at the Lions in the divisional round.

After Sunday’s game, Justin Jefferson, who caught three passes for 54 yards on the night, was asked about the “physical nature” of the way the Lions covered him, which prompted a direct response from the former LSU Tiger on the way the game was officiated.

“In terms of the physical nature of the way they covered you, I mean, how would you kind of assess that?” Jefferson was asked after the game.

“Umm, I mean we felt like you know, some of the calls that should have been called out there didn’t get called,” Jefferson said.

“You know, they held us a lot, a lot of calls that were left out there but, that’s not something that we’re looking forward to, that’s not something that, uhh, we’re going to put the blame on.

“We still needed to go out there and execute the plays that we had, you know, we still had opportunities.” Jefferson added.

The Lions outgained the Vikings 394-262 in total yards on the night, including 216-142 in the passing game, giving Minnesota plenty to think about as they prepare for another high-octane passing attack in Southern California next week.
