Ozzy Osbourne’s sisters are speaking out after the rocker’s death at age 76.
Jean Powell and Gillian Hemming recalled the last time they saw their brother, whom they refer to by his real name, John.
“He was frail, but it still came as a shock,” Powell told The Mirror. She added that while she didn’t know the “details of his death,” she was “thankful he died in England.”
Powell, 85, and Hemming, 80, attended Black Sabbath’s farewell concert in England, just weeks before Osbourne’s passing on Tuesday, July 22.
She recalled about the concert, “It was upsetting because he could not stand up straight, but he was still our John, still cracking the jokes.”
“I got a text from him as he drove down Lodge Road, where we used to live near the stadium,” Powell reminisced about one of their final interactions. “He said he couldn’t believe all the crowds were walking down our old street to watch him perform.”
On Tuesday, Osbourne’s family told The Post that the rock star was “surrounded by love” at the time of his passing.
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the statement from his wife and four of his six kids said. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
