 Doing skin to skin

“My little boy was born at 37 weeks at 5:11am weighing 10 lbs. This picture was taken the day after he was born, one of my favorites… skin to skin contact. This is also the first time we were alone together.”—Katie N.

“When you become a mother, you are like a new person,” photographer Jaydene Freund wrote in the foreword for a photo she took of the moment a mother first met her child. “The second time you are baptized in your life, it is not for you but for your child. Even though you and your baby may have different heartbeats, your souls are definitely always intertwined, following each other closely. That’s why I say when you become a mother, you’re like a completely new person,” the photographer continued.

The minute I saw the pregnancy test

“After two years of trying and one IUI, I took a pregnancy test nine days after the procedure and knew from the very very very faint line that I was going to be a mama. Hundreds of tests before and had never seen even the slightest second line.”—Ashley B.

The moment the nurse from the fertility clinic called

“I knew the moment the nurse from the fertility clinic rang to say my bloods came back positive and my IUI was successful. This is my beautiful boy Stanley
He’s now four and eagerly awaiting the arrival of his little sister in August.”—Lisa H.

Lovely dream

“In this moment [I felt like a mother.] I looked down at my newborn daughter and I felt so overwhelmed with all the love and joy in my being. It felt like holding my beating heart in my arms. I couldn’t find the words to explain how deep my love grew for my sweet girl. I just sat there in my hospital bed, crying tears of happiness knowing I had everything I needed in my life. She was perfect, sleeping so peacefully. I soaked in every second and memorized it in my heart. Being a mommy is the greatest feeling in the world.”—Lauren M.
