After a deeply personal experience that left her heartbroken, Underwood is channeling her passion for animals into a nationwide initiative to find forever homes for millions of shelter dogs languishing in cages.

The spark for Underwood’s campaign came last year during a visit to a rural Tennessee animal shelter. There, she met Daisy, a timid, three-year-old mixed breed with soulful eyes who had been abandoned and overlooked for months. “I saw Daisy trembling in her kennel, and it broke me,” Underwood shared in an emotional interview. “She reminded me that every dog deserves love, but so many never get the chance.” Though Underwood adopted Daisy, the experience ignited a fire in her to address the broader crisis of pet homelessness.

In partnership with animal welfare organizations, Underwood has launched the “Paws for Home” initiative, a multifaceted campaign aimed at raising awareness, funding, and adoption rates for shelter dogs. The program tackles the staggering statistic that over 3 million dogs enter U.S. shelters annually, with nearly 400,000 euthanized due to overcrowding and lack of adopters. “These dogs aren’t just numbers—they’re souls waiting for someone to see them,” Underwood said at the campaign’s launch event in Nashville.
