Georgia Bulldogs legend Brock Bowers continues to set NFL records on a bad Raiders team t

The Las Vegas Raiders (2-8) are not having a great season, but that hasn’t stopped Georgia Bulldogs legend and NFL rookie tight end Brock Bowers from breaking records week to week.

In the Raiders’ 34-19 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon Bowers set an NFL record for most receptions in a game by a rookie tight end as he hauled in 13 catches for a career-best 126 yards and a touchdown.

“We’re trying to do everything we can to feature our best player, and he’s playing like that,” Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said of Bowers after the game. “He’s tough, he’s physical, doesn’t want to come out the game. He’s staying in the run game.

“I mean he’s doing everything he’s asked to do as a rookie and we just need more and more guys to keep making more plays like him.”

Bowers’s latest record day comes after the Raiders’ coaching change-up and debut of their new-look offense under interim offensive coordinator Scott Turner.

But that doesn’t mean much for Bowers, whose job remains simple, according to him.

“There was definitely a few plays in [the playbook] for me, for sure,” Bowers said. “My job [is] just to catch the ball and get yards. I mean, that’s about it.”

Bowers’s record-breaking Week 11 performance also means he joins former New York Giants star Jeremy Shockey as the only rookie tight end in NFL history to have multiple games with at least 10 receptions.

Additionally, Bowers leads all NFL tight ends in catches with 70 and receiving yards with 706 heading into Week 12.

While the Raiders are far from a playoff run, head coach Antonio Pierce hopes Bowers’ magic starts to rub off on the rest of the offense.
