The Georgia Bulldogs had a satisfying Wednesday evening ahead of their Week 11 SEC road game against Ole Miss.
Shortly after it was announced that 2025 four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley had committed to Georgia, more good news came rolling through.
The alleged victim in the ongoing assault case against Bulldogs star wide receiver Colbie Young has asked Athens-Clarke County authorities to drop the charges.
Young was arrested on October 8 for battery and assault after his ex-girlfriend called the cops when the two got into a heated argument.
She has since called the police report from that night “slanted” and asked that any statements attributed to her saying Young attempted to cause injury to her be “retracted.”
“Colbie did not place his hands on me in any way during the conversation and argument that was inappropriate or unwanted,” the woman said in an affidavit released by Young’s attorney, Kim Stephens, via DawgsHQ. “He did not hit me. He did not push me. He did not cause any bruising or marks on me. He did not injure me in any way.
“
Young, a senior transfer from Miami, has played in five games for Georgia this season, logging 11 catches for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Following the initial arrest, Young was suspended “indefinitely” from the team until his case is resolved. While the case has not yet officially been dismissed, and it’s unclear if it will in time for Saturday’s game against the Rebels, this update is a positive sign that Georgia could potentially have their key receiver back in time for the playoffs.
