According to the Chinese calendar, the Year of the Dragon only occurs once every twelve years. Sneakerheads can still recall the last time Kevin Durant sneakers were dressed in the customary yearly theme. The same sneaker that first brought the Year of the Dragon to the Nike KD line will see a completely fresh approach for 2024 from Nike and Kevin Durant. When the Nike KD 4 “Year of the Dragon” was first released in 2012, it quickly rose to the top of Nike’s collection of cool-toned themed sneakers. The original pairs are still selling for up to $350 on the secondary market. Fortunately, Nike will reinvent the classic and move the color scheme in a completely different path.
The Nike KD 4 “Year of the Dragon” 2.0 will have flawless detailing and a tone that is more subdued. The heel and tongue of the shoes are covered in a monotone gray upper. The secondary hue is a regal terracotta/burgundy, while the midsole is a warm beige tone. The sneakers include a gum outsole for added durability, and its characteristic strap features a wood-grain pattern accented with a large Nike Swoosh.
The same terracotta color used for the “KD” insignia is also used for the sockliner and laces. The stitched dragon detailing that is entwined with the Nike Swoosh and “KD” is the shoe’s standout feature. A traditional Chinese hangtag adds flair to the shoes, and they ought to come in unique packaging. Overall, this is most likely the best 2024 “Year of the Dragon” sneaker that we have yet to see.
Although a specific date has not been announced, these should be available on platforms in February 2024 based on the official photographs released by Nike and circulating reports. They should arrive in family sizes and come with the normal $150 price tag. Anticipate their limited-edition release on KicksCrew.com, the Nike SNKRS app, and other stores.
