The father of five shared the cute family update on Instagram Saturday
Dwyane Wade is spending quality time with his daughters!
The former basketball star, 41, hung out with daughters Kaavia, 5, and Zaya, 16, in a cute family update he shared on social media Saturday.
In one photo posted on his Instagram Story, Wade posed with Kaavia as the pair took a mirror selfie in what appeared to be his dressing room.
Wade sported a huge grin as he sat with Kaavia, who rested on his legs and flashed up a peace sign, as they posed in front of shelves of sneakers and racks of clothing.
A following clip showed Kaavia sweetly getting some exercise in for the day as she walked on a treadmill in the house gym. “At her own request,” Wade jokingly wrote in the caption as he tagged the 5-year-old.
The three-time NBA champion also posted a couple of smiling selfies of him and older daughter Zaya on his Instagram Story as the pair sat together outdoors.
Wade shares daughter Kaavia with wife Gabrielle Union. He also shares three children Zaire, 21, Zaya, and Xavier, 10, with ex-wife Siovaughn Funches, and he is the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, 21.
Last month, Wade spoke about what “unconditional love” means to him as a parent as he revealed that he is a “great advisor” to his kids.
“We have no judgment with each other and we’ve been through a lot of things that a lot of people on the outside would deem as something that we don’t look at it as that way. And so that’s how I treat my kids.”
Wade also spoke about wanting to make sure daughter Zaya, who came out as transgender in 2020, feels “safe” and supported by him as her father.
“I don’t want to just be one of those people who’s just been given to Zaya and she doesn’t feel open and confident in me,” he continued. “I want to show her what unconditional love looks like so she can use me as this sounding board through life.”
“I feel like it’s shown in Zaya,” added Wade. “It’s shown in Zaya through the world because of her being a part of the trans community.”
Wade also discussed how being an executive producer on the Netflix documentary short The Dads, which follows five dads with trans children, helped him reexamine his role as a father to Zaya after sharing her identity.
