Being one of America’s most recognized news anchors has its perks — and for World News Tonight host David Muir, that means a stunning portfolio of New York real estate. The 51-year-old journalist, who took over the anchor chair from Diane Sawyer in 2014, currently owns two strikingly different properties — one in the heart of Manhattan and another nestled along Skaneateles Lake upstate.
Muir’s West Village townhouse, which he purchased in 2013 for $4.2 million, hit the market this past April for $7.5 million. The four-story home, built in 1877 and designed in French Second Empire style, boasts three bedrooms, three bathrooms, restored historic moldings, a rooftop terrace approval, and modern luxuries like Sonos audio and central HVAC.
A contract was signed in June, though it remains unclear if the sale has officially closed — or where Muir now resides while filming in New York City.
When he’s not in Manhattan, Muir retreats to his $7 million lakeside home in Skaneateles, purchased in 2019 near his Syracuse hometown. The 4,300-square-foot estate, dating back to 1890, offers six bedrooms, two kitchens, a fireplace, and sweeping lake views. It’s also where Muir shares moments with his German Shorthaired Pointer, Axel — a softer glimpse into the private life of one of TV news’ most visible figures.
