C.Ronaldo Sets Unprecedented Records in 2023, Surpassing Messi: A Glimpse into his Remarkable Achievements

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has just announced a list of records broken in football in 2023. Among them, C.Ronaldo is the one who has achieved the most records with 4 times ( out of a total of 23 records). Great rival Lionel Messi only broke one record.

Let’s take a look at the 4 records C. Ronaldo broke in 2023:

Player to score in the most Euro tournaments (including qualifying rounds)

In March, C.Ronaldo surpassed Jari Litmanen and Robbie Keane to become the player to score in the most Euro tournaments with 6 tournaments (including qualifying and final rounds). The Portuguese superstar has scored in every Euro tournament since 2004.

Specifically, CR7 scored 31 goals in the qualifying rounds and 14 goals in the Euro final rounds. The tournament where the Al Nassr striker played most prominently was Euro 2020 with 11 goals in the qualifying round and 5 goals in the final round.

Player who played the most international matches

Also in March, C. Ronaldo surpassed Bader Al-Mutawa (Kuwait, 196 matches) to become the player who played the most matches for the national team. Up to this point, CR7 has played 205 matches for the Portuguese team. This number promises to be even higher when C. Ronaldo can attend Euro 2024.

The player who scores the most goals at national championships

Soccer legend Ferenc Puskas once held the record of scoring 526 goals in national championships. However, his record was broken last August. Currently, CR7’s achievement is 531 goals. At the age of 38, superstar number 7 never stops scoring goals. This striker faces a great opportunity to become the player with the most goals in 2023 despite turning 38 years old.

Player with the most wins in Euro qualifiers

C.Ronaldo surpassed Sergio Ramos to become the player with the most wins in Euro qualifying (30 wins) after helping the Portuguese team overcome Liechtenstein. Currently, CR7 has increased his record to 32 victories.
