Carmelo Anthony Declares Dwyane Wade as the Premier Shot Creator and Best Shooting Guard in His Prime

The last week just keeps getting better and better for Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade.

Last week he learned the Heat were giving him the ultimate honor by placing his statue outside Kaseya Center. And now one of his peers is placing him in rare company.

Future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony said on a recent edition of his podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn, that Wade was arguably the best shooting guard of their era.

“I don’t think people understand how of a (expletive) D-Wade was,” Anthony said. “Bro, he was probably the best at shot creation. “When he was on his (expletive), arguably he was the best two guard in the league at one point in time.”

Wade responded to Anthony with a GIF from the movie Coming To America, where one of the barbers says, “He ain’t lyin.” Last year Wade was inducted into the Hall of Fame after becoming the best player in Heat history. He won three NBA titles, one with Shaquille O’Neal and two alongside LeBron James and Chris Bosh. His 2008-09 season will go down as one of the best in league history. Many felt he should have won MVP after averaging 30.2 points, 7.5 assists, and 5.0 rebounds.

But best of their era? The same era that included NBA great Kobe Bryant? Granted, Anthony used the words “arguably” and “at one point in time.” It’s still a great compliment for Wade, who is considered no lower than No. 3 on the all-time list of shooting guards along with Michael Jordan and Bryant.
