As all Nascar fans know, Larry and Deegan have been in a war of words for quite some time and they never miss an opportunity to attack each other verbally.
Many thought that the ongoing issue between the two was overdue to the recent silence, but that is not the case, as Larry’s recent statement shows that the problem is still ongoing.

Prior to the start of 2023, Deacon announced that she would be joining Thor support racing and will make her third appearance in the Nascar Truck Series in the 2023 season.
Deegan and her fans were happy, as she is going to join a team that always plays to win and won big titles.
Let us tell you here that Haley Deegan is a professional American stock car racing driver and competes full-time in the Nascar Craftsman Truck Series.
She drives car number 13 and her car model is Ford F-150.
Back to the topic again.
Following the announcement of Deegan’s return, Larry Mcreynolds, who is Nascar’s Crew Chief and also provides racing analyst services for Fox Sports and other platforms, spoke about her return.
On the popular Radio Show Sirius Xm, Larry made some comments about Deegan that showed that the past conflict between Larry and Deegan is still going on.
Speaking on the serious ex-ed Nascar radio shows, popular on track segment, Larry said- I say this with the utmost respect-
She’s a woman.
She is a minority driver of a Craftsman Truck Series or Nascar Camping World Truck.
The fact that she performs is so advantageous.
After that, while talking about Deegan’s performance, Larry criticized her, and his words were as follows.
However, in my opinion, this year will be the turning point.
She’s made roughly 46 starts.
She had never been in a truck before.
When she made that one start in 2020 at Kansas, this was during the cavadera.
When you lined them up and raced them, she came in 16th place because they actually ran her out of gas that day.
I thought she overachieved.
Larry used statistics to keep Deegan’s performance open to the public, citing Deegan’s performance in the previous 23 races.
He further said, however, she has since run 23 races in 22 and 22 and achieved three top 10 finishes at Talladega this past Fall- a best placing of six.
Nobody is more aware of this than Haley.
She needs to exert more effort.
I even recall visiting David Gilliland racing last year, hands over fists that 17 truck was charging up front racing success.
The third season is where the real action begins.
In my opinion, I couldn’t care less about your social media or Youtube following.
That’s all wonderful.
That’s all wonderful.
I’m going to have to start performing on that racetrack thing.
Larry’s analysis may have been criticized by Deegan’s blind followers, but Savvy Nascar fans knew that statistics never lie, and Larry used statistics as evidence in his statement.
It was an accurate and honest analysis.
Remember that Deegan’s performance in the past few years has not been anything special, and that is the reason why she is being criticized.
When Deacon made her truck debuted in 2020, she finished 16th in the special Candace race, which was certainly not satisfactory for Deegan or her fans.
Deegan’s first two seasons also did not bring much joy to her, as she averaged starting positions of 18.0 and 20.0 and finishing positions of 20.9 and 22.1.
As of the 2022 season, Deegan had only two top 10 finishes, while her overall position was 21st, and it was this performance that Larry criticized her for.
For many of you, Larry’s words will be normal, like the words of a normal analyst, but in reality it is not because the two of them have been having a war of words since 2021 and after that, such words are again in the public domain, they have become the center of attention.
In February 2021, during Daytona International Speedway, Larry made some remarks about Deegan that were later identified as misogynistic, and Larry was criticized by several people.
During the race, Deegan had an on-track altercation with another driver, which was the center of attention throughout the race.
Giving his opinion on the same incident, Larry said on air that she was not smart and not ready for the level of racing she was competing in, and that her behavior was not what you want to see from a young driver.
After this controversial statement, Deegan could not control herself for long and took to social media to express her opinion.
Deacon said in a social media post that she was very disappointed after Larry’s statement and called Larry’s statement disrespectful to her.
Deegan also spoke about her sporting achievements and called Larry’s comments an attack on her hard work and abilities.
After Deegan’s reaction, Larry apologized for his statement and said that he had no intention of disrespecting Deegan, but that he appreciated her talent and dedication.
Larry admits that he was not aware of Deegan’s past accomplishments and apologizes for any damage to Deegan’s reputation.
After Larry apologized, Deacon also accepted the apology and said that she wanted to forget the incident and move on.
It was this controversy that has led to Larry’s recent statement making headlines again and the public watching it with interest.
There has been no response from Deegan since Larry’s recent statement, but the dispute between the two has brought attention to an important issue.
This fact shows that, despite women’s participation and performance in Motorsports, the industry is still largely male dominant, and women still face a lot of challenges here.
Women have fewer opportunities in truck racing than men, not only as truck drivers, but also as Engineers, mechanics and other fields that are mostly male dominated.
Apparently, the war of words between Larry and Deegan was an unpleasant event, but it has done a good job for society by shining a light on an important issue in Motorsports and other sports Industries.
It is important that women are given equal opportunities at every level and that they are criticized based on their performance and not because of their gender.
