Life in America of the Messi family

Superstar Lionel Messi, his wife Antonela and three sons live in a villa worth more than $10 million, party with friends, and go to the supermarket like any normal family in America.

Messi and his wife and their children came to the US in mid-July after he signed a two-year contract with Inter Miami. The Argentine superstar has settled into his new life, quickly adapting to the lifestyle of A-list stars here. Messi is seen smiling more, both on and off the field.

Last week, American media reported that Messi and his wife had just bought a new house, a riverside villa with 8 bedrooms. The over 10 million USD property has two private docks, an outdoor swimming pool, a garage with enough space for three cars and is located in a well-secured, private area.

On their personal pages last month, the 1987-born striker and his wife posted many photos of meals with friends and the home of Inter Miami President David Beckham. One of the restaurants Messi and his wife frequent is Gekko – a Japanese restaurant that a close friend of Becks co-owns. Messi’s wife and Vic along with some other Inter Miami WAGs once ate at Papi Steak restaurant.

Messi’s family also went to Cafe Prima Pasta, which has expensive seafood dishes and a menu of many children’s favorite desserts, during a family dinner in July.

In the first days of arriving in America, the superstar family attracted attention when they went shopping at Publix supermarket in southern California. The 2022 World Cup champion was recognized by some fans and asked for autographs and photos. Messi happily responded to their feelings, but after that the whole family was not seen going to the supermarket again.

In an interview when he first arrived in America, Messi expressed his desire to live like a normal person, freely, without too much media attention. America is considered the right place when soccer is not the number one sport. However, every time Messi’s family leaves the restaurant, there are still a large number of fans standing outside expressing their affection.

Before settling in the US, Messi and his family went to Miami many times to vacation. Warm climate and white sand beaches with golden sunshine are plus points for the Argentinian superstar’s home. A few days before the Inter Miami debut, Messi and his wife posted a photo holding hands walking on a beach supposedly in Miami. Antonela’s wife briefly captioned the photo: “Paradise”.

Messi’s appearance created a fever in America this summer, bringing a series of sports and entertainment stars from this country to the stadium to watch him play. At the new team, he is not alone when he reunites with two close former teammates at Barca, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. Rediscovering the joy of playing football after two difficult years at PSG, Messi continuously scored goals, assisted, and contributed greatly to helping Inter Miami win the Leagues Cup.

After two weeks returning to Argentina to compete in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Messi returned to the US to continue playing with Inter Miami in the MLS tournament. Tonight (local time), Inter Miami hosts Toronto at DRV PNK’s home field before playing Orlando City on September 25. Messi and his teammates have a chance to win their second Cup when they play the US Open Cup final against Houston Dynamo on September 28.
