Since he purchased a minor stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, Tom Brady has faced criticism for a conflict of interest between his day job and his new NFL ownership.
Over the past few weeks that criticism has grown louder as Brady gets up close and personal with potential replacements for Antonio Pierce as the Raiders coach. Two such candidates are on the field Saturday night as the Detroit Lions host the Washington Commanders in the divisional round.
During the game, Brady was asked what Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn showed in their interviews.

“Foxlead play-by-play guy Kevin Burkhardt asks Tom Brady what Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn showed in their Raider interviews — Brady just talked about what a great experience it was for him,” NFL reporter Albert Breer said on social media.
Brady’s comments led plenty on social media to wonder if that kind of meeting should be allowed to happen.
“This seems sketchy with a co-owner being able to be asked these questions in the booth,” added another.
“That shouldn’t be legal,” said a third.
“There’s some wild fishiness to this,” offered another.
While fans complain about the issue, Fox Sports president of programming and production Brad Zager doesn’t seem to care.
“To me, the questioning of someone’s integrity to say there is a conflict of interest is ridiculous and that’s a shame,” Zager said. “Is there a conflict of interest Monday night when Kirk Herbstreit calls Ohio State in the national championship game? Was there a conflict of interest of Joe Davis calling the (Los Angeles) Dodgers in the World Series?
“For somebody to say there’s a conflict of interest in that Tom Brady can’t go in a booth and call a Lions game because the possibility of a Raiders coaching search could include, maybe people from Detroit, maybe from Washington, maybe from any team — since they haven’t hired anyone yet — is questioning his integrity. It’s questioning his professionalism. I just don’t understand it on any level.”
