Aaron Jones makes a confession that will break Packers fans’ hearts t

Running back Aaron Jones has always been a fan favorite in Green Bay. So when the Packers decided to release him right after signing Josh Jacobs in March, it was tough to swallow the loss of an idol.

The Packers made a solid choice and Jacobs has had a really good season, but Jones is still beloved and what he said after the Vikings win over the Packers on Sunday makes it all feel tougher to handle for fans.

The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman and ESPN’s Rob Demovsky talked to Aaron Jones after the game, and the running back said he still watches Packers games when possible and roots for Green Bay even though he is now a divisional rival.

Even though the Vikings won on Sunday, it was not a great Sunday individually speaking for Aaron Jones. The running back suffered a quadricep injury in the first quarter and was limited throughout the rest of the game. Because of that, head coach Kevin O’Connell decided to take him out of it late, running more with Cam Akers and Ty Chandler.

Even so, Jones had 12 rushing attempts for 47 yards (3.9 yards per carry) and four receptions for 30 yards.

Next week, if he is healthy enough, Aaron Jones will have a massive game coming up. The Vikings face the Detroit Lions, and the new NFC North matchup will decide the division Champion and the first seed in the NFC — the loser will get the fifth seed.

Meanwhile, the Packers will also make the playoffs, but as sixth or seventh seed. Next week, the team closes out the regular season in an almost meaningless game against the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.
