It seems like betting sharks know something about Jalen Hurts’ availability ahead of Cowboys vs Eagles matchup in Week 17

The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are set to face each other in Week 17 in a game that certainly matters more for the latter as it continues to fight for a better seeding ahead of the playoffs.

That’s why the availability of quarterback Jalen Hurts remains the top story leading up to the game. The quarterback went into the concussion protocol last during the Eagles’ loss to the Washington Commanders last weekend and was estimated as a non-participant on Wednesday’s injury report.

While we await for official updates on Thursday, it seems like things are headed in a specific direction. Not only did the Eagles sign Ian Book to their practice squad but the betting spread took a significant 2-point hit out of nowhere.

As of Wednesday at end of day, the Eagles were 9.5-point favorites over the Cowboys. By 11 a.m. on Thursday, it was down to 7.5-point favorites.

Usually, even a quarterback injury won’t move the spread all that much so even a two-point shift is significant. It’s only fair to assume many expect Hurts to not be able to go. Additionally, prior to Week 16, the look-ahead spread sat at 11 points, so it’s been trending down for a while.

That might just open the door for a Cowboys upset, but Philly is still a pretty good football team that can bet on its rushing offense. Kenny Pickett’s availability is also in question.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are just trying to play spoiler. Last weekend, they did so against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, leaving the fate of the NFC South in control of the Atlanta Falcons, who control their destiny to win the division provided they win out. Against a bitter rival like the Eagles, expect Dallas to come out swinging.
