NFL fans have had it up to here with the officiating this season and were calling for the referees who worked Sundayโs game between the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles to be suspended.
The Commanders claimed an important win on the day, clinching a 10th victory with a late 36-33 result on a last-ditch touchdown. However, fans were upset as it appeared that the refs missed a blatant false start on the play, which ended up being the dagger for Washington as they went ahead with the TD.
Washingtonโs right tackle moved before the ball was snapped, but NFL refs are told to cut linemen a little slack in such cases, which is why FOXโs Greg Olsen thought it was a good no-call.
Check it out in the video below:
Fans on social media did not agree with Olsen and felt like the Eagles were robbed on the play.
โTHE REFS MISSED AN OBVIOUS FALSE START ON THE #COMMANDERS TACKLE ON THEIR GAME-WINNING PLAY,โ MLFootball noted.
โThatโs the most obvious false start Iโve ever seen,โ another account declared.
โPretty clear false start on the right tackle,โ said another.
โHow can the refs miss this false start on the commanders also fire that announcer itโs not an impressive win considering hurts was out by a dirty hit by Luvu and he shouldโve been ejected for that,โ a fan suggested.
The loss was significant for Philly, as they failed to clinch the NFC East and blew a chance to snatch the No. 1 seed.
The Washington Commanders, on the other hand, have kept their playoff hopes alive.
