From ‘Friends’ to Now: Captivating Photos of Jennifer Aniston and the Cast, Then and Now

A walk down memory lane! Itโ€™s been nearly two decades since Friends went off the air, but Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry and the rest of the legendary cast remain beloved sitcom stars to this day. After seeing photos of the TV personalities now, youโ€™ll be surprised to find out they look just as good as they did back in the day.

Friends, which ran for 10 seasons from September 1994 to May 2004, followed the lives of six close pals โ€” played by Jennifer, Matthew, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer โ€” as they lived in the same New York City apartment complex and navigated their hilariously hectic lives.

Over the course of the hit showโ€™s time on the air, the series snagged countless awards, including Golden Globes, Emmys and SAG Awards, on top of tons of other nominations. The New York Times reported the showโ€™s 2004 finale attracted more than 52.5 million viewers, which held the record for โ€œthe fourth biggest audience ever for the end of a series.โ€

Considering Friends is just as popular today as it was back then, fans were incredibly excited to hear that the cast signed on for a reunion years later. The reunion special, hosted by James Corden, aired in May 2021 on HBO Max.

Courteney, who portrayed Monica Geller, opened up about what it was like to film the highly anticipated episode during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that month. While looking back on the incredible memories they created during the โ€™90s and early โ€™00s, Courteney said โ€œit was unbelievableโ€ to reunite with her former castmates.

โ€œIt was so emotional,โ€ she shared with host Ellen DeGeneres. โ€œItโ€™s an unscripted reunion, but we got to be on Stage 24 for the first time, all of us in, like, I forgot how many years. 15 years? 17 years?โ€

Being alongside her colleagues brought Courteney back to the days when they were filming Friends, said the actress, who joked she has the โ€œworstโ€ memory. โ€œOh God โ€ฆ Everything came up that I forgot about.โ€

While most of Courteneyโ€™s memories are filled with unforgettable moments on set, the Cougar Town alum dished the famous fountain scene in the showโ€™s opening credits wasnโ€™t as glamorous to shoot.

โ€œWe were in that fountain for a long time. Somebody thought that would be really fun, and let me tell you what happens, itโ€™s not fun to be dancing in a fountain for hours and hours,โ€ she quipped. โ€œI remember Matthew Perry saying at one point, and we didnโ€™t know each other that well at that point, but I remember โ€” and this was so Matthew โ€” but he was like, โ€˜Canโ€™t remember a time that I wasnโ€™t in this fountain.โ€™โ€
