The Georgia Bulldogs lost out on an elite 2025 recruit last week, but they’re making up for it this week after landing four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley out of Milton High School (Milton, Ga.).
Wiley told Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports the news on Wednesday evening.
A 6-foot-4, 210-pound wide receiver, Wiley is the No. 84 overall prospect in the nation, No. 13 at his position, and No. 11 player in the state of Georgia, per 247 Sports.
Wiley had previously committed to Florida State before changing his mind last week, choosing Georgia over LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Auburn, and several other high-profile schools.
With Wiley, Georgia now has 25 players committed to their 2025 recruiting class.
He joins three other four-star wideouts from Georgia’s class of 2025 commits: Talyn Taylor, Tyler Williams, and Thomas Blackshear.
Wiley finished his junior season with 68 receptions for 1,473 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 21.7 yards per catch.
Athleticism runs in his family as his father, Chuck, was a two-time All-SEC selection as a defensive end at LSU and spent seven seasons in the NFL.
In a major victory for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs, the program has officially secured a commitment from one of the nation’s most highly sought-after wide receiver prospects for the 2025 class—CJ Wiley. The 6’2″, 190-pound standout from Parkview High School (Lilburn, GA) has long been a rising star in the recruiting world, and his decision to commit to Georgia adds another elite talent to an already stacked Bulldogs roster.
CJ Wiley’s Recruiting Journey
CJ Wiley’s commitment to Georgia comes after a whirlwind recruitment that saw him garner attention from top programs across the country. With a blend of size, speed, and agility, Wiley quickly became a favorite among college coaches. His ability to stretch the field, paired with his exceptional route-running skills, made him one of the most intriguing wide receiver prospects in the 2025 class.
Over the past year, Wiley visited a number of top-tier schools, including Alabama, Ohio State, and LSU. However, it was the Bulldogs who ultimately won out in his recruitment, thanks in part to their recent success on the field and Kirby Smart’s ability to develop talent at every position.
Why Georgia?
For Wiley, Georgia offered the perfect mix of athletic development, team success, and proximity to home. Growing up in Georgia, Wiley has been able to watch the Bulldogs’ rise to prominence in college football, including their back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. The program’s reputation for producing NFL-ready players, particularly at wide receiver, was a big draw for the talented prospect.
“The opportunity to play for a national contender and compete for championships was something that really stood out to me,” Wiley said during his commitment announcement. “Georgia is a place where I feel like I can grow as a player and reach my full potential. Coach Smart and the staff are the best in the country, and I want to be a part of that winning culture.”
What CJ Wiley Brings to Georgia
Wiley’s skill set is tailor-made for Georgia’s high-powered offense, which has seen a steady evolution under offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Known for his explosiveness and ability to make plays after the catch, Wiley is an ideal fit in Georgia’s system, where he’ll likely be used both as a deep threat and a playmaker in the open field.
His combination of size and speed allows him to create separation from defenders, while his hands and focus in contested situations make him a dynamic weapon on 50/50 balls. With his versatility, Wiley could see time both as an outside receiver and in the slot, providing quarterback Brock Vandagriff (or whoever assumes the starting role) with a dangerous target on all levels of the field.
The Bulldogs’ 2025 Recruiting Class Continues to Impress
Wiley’s commitment adds to what is shaping up to be another stellar recruiting class for Georgia. The Bulldogs have already secured several key prospects for the 2025 cycle, including defensive playmakers and offensive linemen who will complement Wiley’s talents. Smart and his staff have consistently recruited at an elite level, and this commitment further solidifies Georgia’s standing as one of the top programs in the nation.
With players like CJ Wiley joining the fold, Georgia is poised to remain one of the most feared programs in college football for years to come. If Wiley can replicate the success he had in high school at the college level, it’s not hard to envision him becoming a household name by the time he suits up for his first game at Sanford Stadium.
Looking Ahead
As the 2025 recruiting class continues to take shape, all eyes will be on Wiley to see how he develops over the next few years. Given his incredible upside and the coaching he’ll receive in Athens, the future is extremely bright for this top-tier wide receiver.
For Kirby Smart and Georgia, landing CJ Wiley is a major win, not just for the present, but for the future of their wide receiver corps and overall offensive attack. As the Bulldogs continue to build on their success, fans are already buzzing about the potential of having one of the nation’s best young wide receivers in their ranks.
Conclusion
With the addition of CJ Wiley, Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have once again demonstrated their ability to land top-tier talent and continue building on their status as one of the premier programs in college football. Wiley’s commitment not only strengthens Georgia’s receiving corps but also sends a strong message to future recruits that Athens is the place to be if they want to compete for national championships. The future of Georgia football is looking even brighter with Wiley in the fold.
