Man United 2-1 Chelsea: Scott McTominay’s Classy Brace Propels Erik ten Hag’s Team to a Crucial Victory, Closing in on Fourth-Placed Man City by Three Points.

Erik Ten Hag was once again put under pressure when SCOTT MCTOMINAY hit his second double of the season.

The Dutchman must be very happy that he wasn’t able to sell the midfielder over the summer because the player is still having a great season.

They were down 1-0 at home to Brentford on October 7. This was after losing six of their first ten games in all competitions.

As time ran out, McTominay scored two dramatic goals to take the lead.

Now that there were more doubts about boss Ten Hag, he was once again the man for the job.

He scored in the 19th minute and again in the 69th minute after Cole Palmer tied the game right before halftime.

The win was very important for the Red Devils after their lackluster loss at St.James’ Park last Saturday.

Since taking over as manager of Manchester United, Ten Hag hasn’t been afraid to make big decisions.

He also made two more changes to his starting lineup: Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were both put on the bench.

Or was it such a big call after how they played against Newcastle? After 61 minutes, both were sent off.

Rashford has been bad all season, and Martial shouldn’t be wearing a United shirt at all.

Before the game, Ten Hag supported Martial when he was told it was time to get rid of the Frenchman. It was clear that he was still going to do it.

So Rasmus Hojlund and Antony, who had been complaining to a fan page all week about being criticized, stepped in to take their place.

But the changes worked, and United got off to a great start that made Old Trafford live.

It looked like Bruno Fernandes was in charge, Alejandro Garnacho was tearing down the wings, and McTominay looked like he could score.

When Hojlund tried to score his first goal in the Premier League, Robert Sanchez palmed away a cross-shot that was close.

In the sixth minute, the home team got a penalty.

Antony went out to answer those who didn’t like him, but Enzo Fernandez came up behind him and put his studs down on his foot.

Referee Chris Kavanagh was called over to the screen by VAR David Coote to look at the play again. After a few looks, he decided there had been a foul and gave the penalty.

Captain Fernandes hopped, stepped, and jumped up, but his kick was weak and missed the left post by a yard. Sanchez saved it.

The loose ball was grabbed by Garnacho, but he shot over.

United kept up the pace, pressed hard, and got the lead they deserved.

Nick Jackson of Chelsea lost the ball to Sofyan Amrabat. The move went through Fernandes and Garnacho, who blocked a cross.

Before McTominay, Maguire took a shot, but it was stopped. McTominay then flipped the ball up with one foot and fired home with the other.

The Scottish player, who helped his country get to the Euros, almost scored his second goal soon after.

Fernandes crossed the ball, and he made a huge jump and header that was stopped. The ball bounced back to him, and he automatically put out a foot. However, his close-range shot went straight at the goalkeeper.

United was taking a few risks by pressing so high up in an all-out attack, and they were sometimes caught on the break.

Mykhailo Mudryk shot wide from one of these, and Palmer showed his class when the same player slid the ball through to him.

He skipped past Victor Lindelof and Maguire with the ball stuck on his toe and then hit a low shot back the other way into the far bottom corner.

During the break, United must have been confused about how they were only tied.

It was Ten Hag who said before the game that this Chelsea team is weak because they “do not like to defend.”

They can score, though, and come in off a 3-2 win over Brighton in which they played the second half with only ten players because Connor Gallagher was sent off.

Even though it was only their second win in six games, they had drawn Arsenal 2-2 and Manchester City 4-4, which are both very good games.

So United knew they still fought ahead of them, and they seemed a little tense at the start of the second half because they didn’t want to lose any more points.

They showed again that they were in charge when Antony’s shot was blocked just wide on the hour mark.

Then, McTominay’s glancing header from Shaw’s corner hit the goal and the goalie.

Garnacho was great, but Hojlund didn’t like it when he picked up a cross high instead of running it along the ground.

The 19-year-old Argentine international didn’t give up. After coming on as a replacement, Sergio Reguillon found McTominay with a curling high cross that was just what the goalie needed.

As the four extra minutes went by, Ten Hag paced frantically in his technical area. He knew that this win was well-deserved.
