(VIDEO) Tom Brady Believes Baltimore Ravens Will Shine: Why He Trusts Lamar Jackson to Break Out in the Playoffs

Tom Brady shared where his trust Lies when it comes to Afc teams taking down the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens were not who he went with.

The Ravens have a joint practice today with the Green Bay Packers here on Thursday.

A lot of excitement surrounding that.

We’ll certainly get to that.

But first we’re gonna be talking about Tom Brady.

He talked about where he trusted teams, who he trusted to take down.

The Chiefs and the Ravens were not in his answer here to talk about everything with me today.

Joining us, as he does, is former baltim Ravens wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Kyri Ism Q.

We’re so close to the regular season now and I think that’s Kind of

How it goes-

And I know we talk about this- where everybody’s so ready for the preseason to be over.

Get to the regular season football.

But of course this last preseason game is where some guys is make a break for a roster spot, and so it is important that we see one more week.

Whether it be roster spots, starting spots, these guys still have something to prove.

I think the one thing I look at with training camp it’s: you know pretty much who your starting 11 offense defense, but then it’s the backups, it’s the Special Teams.

It might be.

Obviously we got the goat in Justin Tucker, but you might have a kicking competition.

Um, you know, those are some auxiliary positions, but for the most part you know who’s going to be on your roster, who’s your starters and so forth.

What I am loving about this training camp is the fact that, yes, you’re seeing a lot of of maneuvering within those lower uh positions on the roster, and some of those positions are going to be critical positions once the regular season comes about.

And that’s where you’re talking about yep positioning yourselves to do what Ravens do best: make the playoffs and Advance through the playoffs.

And the one guy I keep going back to in terms of like a last preseason game, Warrior, a guy who literally secured a roster spot still on the team Today- Q Michael Pierce all those years ago out of Samford.

He was an undrafted guy and I don’t think a lot of people had him on their roster.

I remember they went down to New Orleans for that fourth preseason game.

I think it was 2017.

If I’m not mistaken, I might be a little wrong on the year, but he went out there, had the game of his life ended up getting a roster spot.

And look what he’s done now.

He’s turned that into a heck of an Nfl career, so one game can help you out a ton, especially for these guys fighting for roster spot.

So I’m excited to see him go up against the Green Bay.

But before we get to the Green Bay, part of this joint practice is the story of the day.

On Wednesday was a clip that surfaced.

Tom Brady was at Fanatics Fest.

He talked with Stephen A Smith.

He was up there answering questions, put Lamar Jackson in his top five quarterback list and everything like that.

But he was asked about who, to him, are the biggest threats in the Afc to take down Kansas City.

We know they’re the team to beat.

They’re the team that circled on the calendar when you play them.

Tom Brady did not go with the Ravens.

He went with the bills and the Bengals and and Stephen A Smith said, Oh so, not the Ravens.

And he said the Ravens work right, they’re up there.

But he said the Ravens have to be more successful in the postseason for him to say, okay, they’re really there.

And mentioned how the Bengals have made it to the Super Bowl.

The bills have made it to a championship game.

They’ve been in Championship Games.

Well, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, they’ve been to the same amount of Championship Games.

The difference is Lamar Jackson got to his last year and Josh Allen did his a couple of years ago.

We know the Ravens have to be better in the postseason.

I don’t think we’re shying away from that fact.

Right, you got to be able, and that’s just not.

That’s just a Lamar thing, that’s an entire team thing.

You’re not pinning at all on Lamar Jackson.

But what do you make a Tom Brady say on this and going with the Bengals and the bills over the Ravens in terms of threat to Kansas City?

I think it’s more perception versus reality.

I think it’s a situation where, uh, you know, his football eye from a playoff perspective looks like the bills are a little bit more aggressive.

Uh, they’re sticking more towards a game plan, successful play and winning.

We saw what happened when, uh, Josh Allen and and Patrick Mahomes dueled it out.

It was at, I believe, Kansas City.

Um, but he was throwing some dimes.

It wasn’t like a sloppy play and somebody made a mistake.

It was he who blinked first, and so, with that lens, Lamar Jackson didn’t have those performances to kind of draw upon.

And as much as we want as Raven fans and as a fan base to you know, put him on that pedestal, which he’s more than deserving to be from a regular season standpoint, but from an overall standpoint of just what Tom is seeing and what other guys and analysts are saying it’s like all right.

You know he,

Yeah, he beat Tennessee on the road.

Boy, you know he beat the Texans at home.

Okay, Yeah,

But yeah, man, he didn’t look that good when they had opportunity to beat the Texans or the Titans- excuse me, uh, they didn’t look that good.

When he had an opportunity in the Afc Championship game with the number one seed to, uh, close out, the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t get a chance to play up to his, you know, strong Mvp capabilities

And I think that’s what he’s going to be judged by.

I’m sure he feels it as well, because ultimately he’s saying he wants to win championships and it really doesn’t matter what the rankings are.

It’s about him and teammates going on that Quest.

But for you and I and the conversation that we’re having and what Tom Brady is saying-

Yeah, you know the reality of it is is that you know to be the best.

You got to beat the best and he went to Buffalo and didn’t play well

And he actually unfortunately didn’t finish the game because of the concussion.

But that was an opportunity to go head-to-head, yeah, with with, uh, Josh Allen.

You know there’s just so much there when it comes to the the postseason compared to what we know is the dominance of the regular season.

For Lamar Jackson.

Yeah, We know that the two biggest games of his career, obviously the Titans game and the chief’s game.

The team wasn’t able to get it done, and I know what you were saying, that that you meant the Titans said of the Texans.

The Texans game was awesome for him, right?

No, Texans game, he did play well, but you’re right.

Yes, no, and I I got you.

I, I knew what you were saying.

But I think in the Titans game again, you had 500 total yards.

He was one of the only people who actually like: was it a great overall?

Like he was perfect in that game?

Obviously not, but he, he was fighting in that game, even though it, you know, wasn’t the best game I’ve ever seen out of him.

500 total yards is still like Okay, he’s going out there trying, trying to win, trying to win.

The Kansas City game.

Obviously the throws were not there.

He threw it.

A double coverage there was.

There were issues, and you know, you can blame that on him, but also we know what happened in that Kansas City game with the coaching staff and the game plan and how that all unfolded.

So I agree with you.

Also, you make a good point about the head-to-head, where Lamar did go to Buffalo, get injured and they lost that game.

And, and when you look at that, I think the big difference for everybody.

Though, look, if you want to say, oh Yeah, Josh Allen has better stats in the playoffs as opposed to Lamar.

Okay, yes, that that’s accurate and that’s true.

But if we’re basing it based off of how far teams have gotten, Cincinnati’s made the Super Bowl.

They’ve won the Afc before with Joe Burrow.

That is something that can be acknowledged 100%.

It’s not winning the Super Bowl.

That’s a conversation.

But then you talk about: oh well, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson like: oh, the bills have been the championship games and I’m just like: well, are we also going to say the Ravens have been to a been to a championship game too?

Are we just gonna kind of kind of throw that one out the window?

Plus Q?

I think the perception around the bills this year is a very interesting one.

Just because they lost a lot of guys, they traded away Stefan Diggs.

Obviously they tried to retool.

I don’t expect them to be a bad team this season, but it kind of goes back to the regular conversation of almost narratives, I guess, where Lamar can do one thing and then someone else can do another, and sometimes not all the time right.

But sometimes that narrative doesn’t really apply to other guys, but it applies to Lamar.

For example, with receivers, Lamar’s receivers drop passes.

In the Pittsburgh game everybody’s like: oh, is Lamar doing enough to win?

And then Mahomes and his receivers Dro the passes and everyone’s like they need to get Mahomes help.

And so that’s kind of the conversation of Yeah, I think we can both sit here and say: Lamar has to be better in the postseason, the Ravens have to be better in the post in order to earn that right.

But it is interesting, kind of the Afc hierarchy with the Chiefs being at the top

And then you have the Ravens bills and Bengals kind of jumbled into one and it feels like there are varying opinions and different opinions on just where those two, three, four rank.

I honestly believe, from a game flow of it all we have, we Ravens fans fan base, podcast, Ers, have a leg to stand on from a Optics SL statistics and what he did or didn’t do compared to, you know, Josh Allen and and Joe Burrow.

We just simply don’t, not in the regular or not in the postseason regular season.

Absolutely game on.

Let’s, let’s, let’s, you know, dive into it, let’s get into it.

But um, I think, with that postseason, kind of in incomplete score it, it leaves that dark cloud over.

Um, what we know now is is is a a start to a brilliant career.

Obviously this is going to be season seven and it’ll be exciting to see how well his uh Groove goes from there.

But uh, yeah, it, it.

It’s one of those cases where I think for Lamar to quiet everyone.

Yeah, going up against a Josh Allen, going up against Ay Patrick momes.

Um, if you need to take care of business and handle it against Joe burrow, so be it.

Obviously you see him twice a year.

So you know, you kind of can feel that rival out.

But uh, I just think, overall regular season, you know we’re going toe-to-toe with anyone making that argument.

Uh, as far as where you’re ranking the quarterbacks and teams and all that Postseason gotta eat a little humble pie.

And again we can all sit here and be objective.

Right, we’re not going to come on this show

You

And I

And say, oh, the Ravens have been so good in the postseason.

I don’t know why they’re not winning.

No, we’re not.

No, we obviously understand that they need to be better.

Right.

We’re on this show to be objective, right.

Criticism where it’s due it and praise where it’s due.

And for the postseason there’s been more criticism deserve than praise where it’s not.

Like they have never played good again.

That Texans game, Lamar, was awesome.

The team was awesome in that Texans game in the divisional round last season, but more often than not has been more of the disappointment.

And plus I mean, look Lamar with his record, but also, you know them- losing to the Bengals in the Wild Card round with Tyler Huntley and they almost, by the way, honestly should have won that game without how how that game was going.

But it’s just about the postseason narrative.

And with Lamar, exactly Y, yeah, Q, if you’re listening an audio, for him, Q is reenacting the Tyler Heartley fumble, which, uh not, not not great for anybody Ravens wise involved, but for Lamar it’s just about him being more consistent.

Now what I’m going to be most curious about Q is tiny side note.

Still relevant is what would happen if Lamar plays exceptional, like exceptional in the playoffs and they lose and they lose and they lose.

Well, yeah, because that goes back to my argument with what you know from a football eye perspective.

You look at Josh Allen dueling it out with Patrick Mahomes, and I think that’s why, uh, you know, Tom Brady is saying: yeah, you know Patrick Mahomes, uh, is, is up there.

But you know, if you want to rank guys as well, you know, I just think, think Josh Allen, that’s what rolled off his tongue.

Because, yeah, you think about like boy, some of those games.

You know it wasn’t on Josh.

Josh was doing his part.

Same thing for Lamar.

Lamar balls out.

Do his thing, you ain’t gonna hear you, definitely not gonna hear me say anything.

Because, put up and shut up.

I’m doing everything I can do to will my team to a postseason Victory and advance to either the next round or to the Super Bowl.

You know, that’s, that’s the ultimate thing you want from a competitor.

And let the chips fall where they made from that, you know clearly.

Uh, Tom Brady, you know what was it?

Uh, Eli Manning.

Twice, you had Joe Flo and you had Nick Fs.

You know those were four opportunities that he didn’t get: Super Bowl rings.

And, uh, I just think that for Joe Flaco, yeah, he outd Tom Brady.

But you know Tom Brady played well, it was just that man.

Joe Flaco played better and and our defense came up with the necessary plays at the right time.

Um so, when it comes down to it, yeah, let Lamar play well, let Lamar Dominate and unfortunately come up short, as long as it’s not him making a critical fumble or critical mistake.

But whatever time ran out or something along those lines.

Um, you know, you just you’re going to, you’re going to tip your hat to your opponent.

But that that does not diminish, uh, what Lamar Jackson is as a a guy, matter of fact.

It should, you know, keep them right around, because you know it’s, it’s a win or loss, and that’s it, and that’s what everyone looks at.

But again, from an optic standpoint, he’s not going to be lessen, he’s not gonna be knocked down a peg, I think he’ll.

He’ll kind of remain there as like yeah, man, unfortunately one Slipped Away type of a thing.

It’ll be in a in a. uh, Payton, Manning esque, type of of a, of a, a mindset where you know, it took Payton a while to get over the hump.

Once he did, he was able to, uh, yeah, go to the Super Bowl and-

And obviously we know what Indianapolis did to have them hoist up.

One went back to another.

Um, Drew Brees got the better of him, but then he goes back again and you know, Broncos thought they had it, they did it, but then they go back again and the Broncos finally get it.

I think that’s how it it.

It just.

It just is, you know, and take the good with the bad.

But from a ranking standpoint, I hate to say it.

I mean it’s just Josh Allen, and I think that again you’re.

Don’t want the Lam marites to misunderstand me, I’m saying Postseason, not regular season, not trying to say: hey, Josh, is the better quarterback.

All that sh, quiet.

Put your listening ears on, rewind it again so you can really hear what I.

Yeah, if you’re a quarterback, it’s going to.

You know, you’re going to get blamed for the loss regardless.

Is that fair or no?

If you play well, of course.

If you don’t play well, yes, it is fair.

But the quarterback is the most important position, that’s, that’s the the golden position, right.

So if you lose, oh well, you know, even though he play well, he could do.

You could do better.

Obviously that will come with the territory, but it would be an interesting conversation, because I just- it seems to be the only conversation surrounding- is like: oh, that’s why the regular season in Baltimore doesn’t really matter anymore to a lot of people.

Q is because like, oh, you know, we know they’re a good regular season team.

They Prov that over and over and over again, but okay, can he do it in the playoffs?

That that, I think, is where, uh, where people are trying to see in the Lam more Jackson era.

If they can do it-

And I believe they can, but they gotta obviously prove it as well.

But come up in the second part of the show.

We talking about some practice observations over the past few days before obviously the team went out to Green Bay.

Stay tuned.

Q, I know that these guys are still working hard at practice.

They’re still getting their reps in.

They obviously have a big day ahead today against the Green Bay Packers.

They’ll be practicing over there.

But from what you’ve seen over these past few days, the big story lines are: Baitman caught a huge pass from Lamar Jackson.

Tz Walker, after being pretty quiet over the course of training camp, he caught a long one from from Devin Lry.

What have kind of been your main observations over these past couple of days?

After their week two preseas game against Atlanta?

When I look at, uh, the totality of the camp, um, I’m very impressed with the, the coaching staff and getting guys to to step up their game and and play and and do do their thing.

Um, I think at the same time, you know you could see where the leadership of whether it be the Roquan Smith’s over on the defens side of the ball, whether it be the Lamar Jackson’s over on the offensive side of the ball, but you can see the leadership on both sides, like there wasn’t a drop once.

The the last day of fans happened last week, and then Monday and Tuesday of this week happened.

Uh, as far as the the last two days of media viewing, a whole entire of practice, I mean, goodness, it was, it was awesome, there was no dip in in their concentration and you can see where their focus is at.

You know, I like this team man, I think you know they got something going on.

I love, love their attention to detail.

Um, you know, yeah, the T Walker catch, it’s.

It’s interesting because again, it was a good catch, strong catch, solid catch, show speed, but it was against Marcus Williams and it was in a period where it wasn’t like.

It was a full-on scrimmage and I

I think you know we Gota, we gotta.

I know, just because, being a former player and just seeing the the different periods, and you know what’s emphasized or deemphasized, you know, you hear it a lot, where coaches will say, hey, take care of the fellas, and that means that you know you’re not going live, you know.

So Yeah, I, I, I applaud him.

You know he, he did what it’s standard football 101, going up against your teammate to give him a good look, type of a thing you know, the the play call for a deep post.

It was thrown great and he caught it, and that’s what you’re supposed to do.

So you know, if it was live or we saw other elements of him in that play, then maybe I’d be like Yo.

Okay, I’m tell Taz, but you know just.

I just think it’s just more caution to the win more than hyping up uh that particular play.

But you also saw Lamar working with uh Nelly.

You saw Lamar working with uh Z as well as baitman on.

You know some deep balls and uh them just trying to work on their timing and stuff.

So I think, against the Green Bay Packers, it’ll be interesting how you know Lamar sees it.

As far as taking some shots down the field, yeah, and I think that’s a big thing too, even if you just want to talk about what they did against Atlanta Q in week two, where in week one against Philly, they were not pushing the ball down the field whatsoever.

You know, Josh Johnson obviously did not play well, and I mean the quarterbacks in general didn’t play well.

But I think we saw in this game obviously Dayton Wade with the great double move, Shad of Demarcus Robinson on Eli Apple from that Cincinnati game a couple years ago.

You got Tylon Wallace making another big catch.

You got Keith Kirkwood getting involved 15- 18 yards down the field, other guys getting involved that way.

You and I have both talked about how important this deep passing game is for the Ravens this season, whether it be Z flowers getting involved, Rashad Baitman they use as a likely in that role a little bit more.

Obviously, Tez could be that, but I don’t expect him to have a huge role, especially to start.

I think he might have to probably lean in and work into that role.

But to you, do you expect them to put a huge emphasis early in the regular season on getting that deep passing game going, based off what you’ve seen as they prepare in training camp?

Yeah, I do I.

I think if, if the, the, the opportunity, the matchup presents itself, I think absolutely they can.

Here’s the crazy thing about it.

I think they can do it with multiple guys.

I saw it throughout training camp.

Um, Justice Hill dude can catch.

He can catch the ball well down, Phil.

There were some throws that he had down the sideline, that he was making some catches.

Uh, tight ends.

Uh, yeah, Zade flowers, like dude, is like the Oneand catch machine, but he’s been catching deep balls down the field.

Um, you know Mark Andrews catching, you know, deep balls down the field.

Um, but then you look at yes Z, you look at bit.

You look at Nelson.

Um, all of those guys, they’ve had their fair share of deep ball catches.

So it’s not just an exclusive.

Hey, it’s about the receivers on the outside, but I think it’s about the entire skill group.

And it’s it’s big because if you can open up that deep passing game, it will make the Run game even better.

You can work, play action off of it as well, where, whether you want to work or whatever it is, if you can open up that deep passing game and make defenses, respect that they’re going to have to put the Personnel back to try to stop it.

But two guys that we talked about a little bit last week, q and I just I’m.

I’m still so curious about your thoughts about these two.

It’s starting cornerbacks.

It’s Marlon Humphrey and Brandon Stevens.

You would mention that, Marlin.

You know you were a little worried about how it would go, what he would look like, but he’s been a guy that’s impressed you.

Brandon Stevens has been all over the place and seems to be a constant conversation point when it comes to guys making plays in the secondary.

I mean, can you kind of go into a little more detail on just how those guys have impressed you and and what you’re looking for for those guys for this season?

Yeah, So you know, when you, when you look at the play of Brandon Stevens, um, it

It’s, it’s, it’s.

It’s easy to get caught up in the new guys and the established guys kind of get pushed to the side.

But I saw where it just didn’t matter who it was.

I mean could have been Zay, it could have been.

You know, Baate could have been.

You know the way the matchup would have been.

You know one of the younger guys and every single time, like he, was in really strong position, sure, you know, as a defensive back, you’re gon to have catches on you, but it wasn’t like.

You know, somebody was Mossing him every single time.

Um, I, I love that.

You know he was able to get through Camp.

Uh, for the most part healthy.

No one’s absolutely 100% ever in in training camp.

But, uh, I love that.

He was, you know, looking the part um Marlin again because of the Otas and the uncertainty, and him dealing with some soft tissue stuff, his consistency throughout training camp.

And it was, it was bait, it was, it was, it was Z, it was, uh, likely it, you know, it just didn’t matter whoever.

I’m going to go out there and I’m going to cover, you know, the one practice.

Uh, at one point he was like leading away with multiple interceptions.

Um, that’s being around the football.

You know, that’s a good, Strong football player in a strong mind, as far as what you know needs to go on to to show your your abilities, not only to Zo, as they call him Zack, or defensive coordinator, but also to your boys.

Be like Yo, I’m, I’m, I’m the the top dog, until otherwise noted.

So I like both guys and their camp that they had, and they should be primed and ready.

I, I, I mean goodness.

I wish I was up in Green Bay, but that’s okay.

Um, the fact is is that we got two corners that are solid, strong and ready to roll, which I think helps the other guys, the other younger guys like the Nate Wiggins, like the Tj tampas that’ll eventually come up to Snuff, the Jaylen Army.

Davis is of the world.

You know, those guys, too, are going to be looking and like: okay, that’s a standard that we’re going to have to do for ourselves.

Yeah, and that’s the standard they’ve had.

You know they’ve always invested a lot in their secondary and they certainly expected to to perform as such.

And you know guys like Marlon Humphrey, Brandon Stevens, certainly pave that way in the cornerback room.

Coming up, though, in the final part of the show, we’ll dive into a little bit more about Ravens practices, talk a little bit about the preseason game and then get into what we should expect from joint practice here today.

So should have stay.

We got a lot to get to still on lock down Ravens first.

Over on Fanduel.

So if you want to look at that line, head over to Fanduel.

Just Vit Fanduelcom, Lockon, that America’s number one sports book.

We are back rounding out lockdown Ravens with Kadri Ismel.

I am Kevin all Striker and Q. the biggest conversation point for this Ravens team, or at least one of them, is the offensive line.

We talk about it every week.

They lost three starters.

Bunch of young guys coming in seems like yre Vorhees and Roger Rosen Garden have a pretty strong grip on on the left guard and right tackle position respectively.

It’s all about the Right Guard spot, though.

Daniel Fele has gotten the first two starts in the preseason, gotten plenty of reps with the ones, but apparently Nick Samx getting some reps at center.

Now, with Ben Cleveland, push him back out to guard.

That’s what John Harbaugh is talking about at his press conference.

I believe that was on Monday.

Where are you on this offensive line right now?

How do you think they’ve looked?

And do you favor a f at Right Guard?

Or would you rather go with more experience.

And let’s say a Ben Cleveland.

Yeah, You know, if I’m being honest.

Um, about my evaluation with the offensive line, I appreciate the way Vorhees has looked big, big Ups to Ronnie Stanley.

I I’ve mentioned that before in our previous one, where we went through the entire Camp, just looking the part helping out the young guys, um, not showing any signs of needing a vet day or anything.

Uh, yes, I’m concerned about Linder balb with whatever he has going on.

Um, when you look at the other uh pieces, Rosen Garden, you know he’s looked solid and he’s had, you know, some opportunities to show himself.

But then there’s also some growing pains, or he has had his Growing Pains as well.

Yeah, You know, Fay, you know it’s like

Okay, you know you got everything, you 68, 380, like all right brother, let’s go.

And I think sometimes you don’t see that Killer Instinct just to to do what he needs to do.

And then other times you see athleticism, but you don’t see him really moving a guy you know out the way, and you saw it in the preseason game games.

You know the the running backs didn’t really necessarily get free to that second level, like I thought.

You know they had an opportunity to um with them in there, so that that’s kind of like.

You know, I’m, I’m, just I’m there.

I’m hoping, with this final preseason game and and hopefully with this uh joint practice, that there’ll be news coming out of it and news going into the um.

You know, Green Bay game is like: oh budy, these dudes are ready and that’s what I’m hoping, but we’ll see.

You mentioned, Tyler lender Bom, that you were worried with uh, with what’s going on with him.

Obviously, John Harball provided updates couple weeks ago.

He said he’d be back next week.

We, a couple weeks past that, next week timeline, Harau obviously gave another update and said that he’s right on schedule, kind of where they’re planning with the, with the soft tissue thing.

Obviously, with your background in sports performance, can you kind of talk about what you believe, believe that he could be dealing with from a more specific perspective and why it might worry you a little bit, like he said?

Yes, so, I know they’re saying that.

Uh, you know, it’s, it’s somewhere in the uh neck region.

Um, you know, remember, so I don’t know what degree.

Obviously, I know for me, my goodness man, I I got C3.

C4 neck fusion.

That’s what stopped me from playing.

Um Pton Manning, you know he had C3 C4.

I don’t know if it’s C3 C4, but he had one of the cervical uh spots on his cervical spine.

Uh, the Dis had ruptured and so now it’s about the spacing in the column of the spine.

So if you have a good spacing, then obviously those nerve endings and everything and the sovial fluid and that spinal fluid and all that it goes through and you can take some hits.

When you know you call it stenosis, which means ning uh of the column.

In that particular case of the spinal column, then there’s some concerns.

So you know, if it’s just a neck sprain and you’re just resting them up, okay, I get it.

I mean that’s, you know, some delicate area, especially for a center, if it is a, you know, cervical, uh, spine disc bulge, uh, herniation or rupture, you know, that’s a whole another, you know, realm of worry and concern.

So if John and number is just saying like it’s just soft tissue, it’s going to.

You know some things he got to work out.

Obviously they’re not really going to be as forthcoming per se.

Then I’m comfortable with that.

Yeah, It’s uh, he’s a, he’s the biggest part of their offensive line, obviously, and uh, he, he, he needs to be out there for them to reach their full potential.

So hopefully he is just resting up right now and it will.

He’ll be back on the field come week one against Kansas City.

But H joint practices are always a uh, a fun time for teams going out there hitting somebody.

That’s not your own teammate, obviously you know you get into a rhythm of just going out there and hitting your own guys every day.

It gets a little exhausting, a little tiring.

You want to hit somebody else.

Ravens are up in Green Bay today.

So obviously, if you are listening or watching to this, after that practice you can play a fun game to see if q and I are right in our observations to to talk about if we got them right or not, but us Q not knowing what’s going to happen.

First of all, can you talk a bit about what the energy joint practices are?

And, uh, you know kind of your experience going through him as a player.

So we had a ton of joint practices every year with the Kansas City Chiefs when I was with the Minnesota Vikings and every year, uh, we would play them in the preseason, very much similar to what Green Bay and what the uh Ravens are doing when I look at a joint practice and the Ravens have had them postco, um, like with the Commanders.

You know that is really cool, because you know you go up against your, your guys and and after a while it kind of gets a little stale, stale for the coordinators, what they’re going to call stale for you as a offensive guy, defensive guy.

How many times am I gon to release off the line of scrimmage and beat you on that same move?

At some point in time you’re gonna figure it out and you’re gonna do a move.

Okay, now I figured out your move

And so you figured out the move to the counter move, to the counter move and that move.

And this it’s like man

And you get you get, you just get irritated with it.

So you go up against another uh, Team.

Now they competitive juice like:

Oh yeah, I thought it was interesting.

John Harbaugh was saying that the league kind of wants to limit the days of joint practices and only make it like a day and make it like a condense.

You know time frame.

Don’t make it as long of a day because there comes a point of no return where you know you got two competitive, extremely competitive teams and now there’s some like egos going on and this practice.

Hopefully, by the time this is all said and done, we get this in the can and you know it’s over with that.

There’s no like All right

Q.

I want you on on uh Friday and I want you on on post game Saturday, because there was this big old brawl that broke down.

We gotta figure it all out.

So hopefully, yeah, it’s competitive.

Yeah, maybe there’s a little shove here there, but nothing too serious.

Yeah.

And uh, I I know that with the joint practice is I mean last year was a couple days with the commanders.

Now, obviously, as you mentioned, it’s now just one with Green Bay, and there have been.

I mean I believe it was the Bears and the Bengals had joint practices and the Bengals lost two guys for the season.

I think, or maybe the Bears I can’t, but there have been injuries in these joint practices, a lot of them.

I mean that’s how.

That’s how guys like- uh, I think that’s how Dereck wolf got Injured- was in that joint practice against Carolina a couple years ago when we we never heard from him again in H Raven’s uniform.

So m is going on there too.

So we that that was a whole.

There were three different tiers of that story.

That was crazy stuff going on with, uh, with Dereck wolf, but hopefully everybody can get out healthy on both teams.

That’s that’s the biggest thing.

But in terms of guys who, who you might expect to have a big practice, or guys who you think need to have a big practice, you who who are some names you’re keeping an eye on for today.

So the running backs definitely need to have, uh, a strong and powerful practice.

I don’t think either.

One of those guys really separated themselves.

Um, you know, if if you’re going to bring, you know, three, three running backs on the active roster, or just say you know to heck with it there, Henry Justice Hill, let’s roll.

Um, you know there’s been some other injured guys that you know are going to get an opportunity to kind of step up there and play offensive line F lelay.

I come on now, Ben Cleveland, come on now.

Those are two guys that I’m I’m hoping that you know.

They um, really show up and show out.

Um, you know, Josh Johnson, in a sense of, hey man, you had a great performance, strong performance, I should say, maybe not great, but strong, certainly strong.

Uh, against the Atlanta Falcons, man, Back, That Thing Up, keep showing them, uh, slinging around, slinging around the 83, and from just a pure analyst standpoint, uh, you know, yeah, I would love to see, uh, Cadir, get some, some throws, some targets like legit, not scrambling, oh here, or, you know, throwing off your back foot and throwing them to the flat.

You know, I, I, I think there are opportunities for that tight end group to have some plays.

I was watching the uh, Green Bay and Broncos play and you did see some slot slash, tight end play and they were getting the ball out to them.

So that’d be cool to see as well.

Um, I just think the receiving core, you know, everybody’s all hyped up on weight, but Miller, that Dude Looks fast, he looks professional and you know he’s been there.

Done that, you know, I don’t know if Wade fully understands what the complexities are once that regular season rolls about.

You know Miller does Gage, you know he miss some time, whatever.

I think he’s still kind of, you know, figuring it out as far as you know, his knee and all that.

Um, Kirkwood looked good.

He is a vet, you know, got some vet mileage on him, but that definitely looked good.

Tyon Wallace, man, he’s been just showing up, man, I mean just been showing up throughout the entire uh training camp.

Um, I would love-

I mean depending on, I’d love- to see a good report about Nate Wiggins coming out of uh Camp.

Um, with the joint practice, but I don’t know if you know if they play them.

I hope they do.

You know, that’d be cool to to kind of see.

Um, you know, the linebacking cor still needs to just do their thing.

Let let’s see, David Ajabo have act two.

You got out there against the Falcons.

Great, what do you got now?

Um, trk made the great stop for the two-point conversion.

What else you got?

Uh, that that’s kind of like.

You know that all right, you know.

Let, let you know.

Let’s tune it all up.

Patrick Mahomes doesn’t really care.

You know what you might or might not be working on.

Let’s tune it up.

Let’s get ready for this guy.

Yeah, I’m ready, I’m excited for it.

And again, if you are watching this after the joint practice, you can, you can hear q and I, we can give our names and you can, you can see where we right.

Were we right?

Were we?

Were we not right?

I, I think you named a lot of my guys.

Q, I think one guy that I expect to have a great day is z flowers.

I just think he’s so hard to cover and if they’re sending him one-on-one looks or whatever, I also expect, as they likely to go out there and dominate, and obviously Lamar, hopefully can have a great day as well.

That’s all I have for you here today, though, on lock on Ravens, Q really appreciate you, as always, and and always appreciate your football Insight.
