(VIDEO) 49ERS PULL OFF SHOCKING ROOKIE QB HEIST—THE NFL IS CLUELESS!

Every year with San Francisco there seems to be some type of quarterback controversy, and this year is no different.

While Brock pie is clearly their franchise quarterback, the depth chart behind him is anyone’s guess.

They currently have Brandon Allen, Joshua Dos and Tanner Morai battling it out.

Brandon Allen is the typical Shanahan vet quarterback.

He’ll execute the offense, but really not much more.

Think of, maybe, Brian Hoyer.

In contrast, the Joshua dos offered explosive plays both for the Cardinals and Vikings last year, but you also had costly turnovers.

So perhaps the best option for San Francisco’s quarterback 2 this year is Tanner morai, the undrafted free agent rookie coming out of Wisconsin.

Unlike Allen, morai is an athletic freak.

He ran his 40y yard dash in 4.46 seconds and, unlike Dos, he wasn’t a turnover machine across his college career.

For instance, he had the touchdown, the interception ratio of 3.14, which is actually better than P’s ratio in College of 2.4 five.

So in this video I wanted to dive a little bit deeper into Tanner morai and see if he has what it takes to be San Francisco’s second quarterback.

The first thing that really pops out, both on the film and prodate for morai is just how athletic he is.

He ran his 40 yard dash, as I mentioned in 4.46 seconds and his 10 yard split in 1.63.

Where Morai differentiates himself from other athletic quarterbacks, though, is how he utilizes this athleticism.

You’re not just going to see him take off and run every time he gets a chance.

Rather, Morai does an excellent job of extending the play Within and outside the pocket, and I really think this is what San Francisco is coaching into their quarterbacks.

When you watch how Brock Pie plays, for instance, he’s not taking off for like little 5 yard gains, even though he could.

He extends the play, is keeping his eyes down the field and then picks up like a 25 yard gain.

But that’s also not to say Morai can’t run because he had over 600 yards coming out of college and was ranked as the 11th best dual threat quarterback in the nation, coming out of Midway High School in Waco, Texas.

The similarities between Py and morai don’t end in just how they attack defenses with their athleticism, but also extends to how they both ended up with the 49ers.

Perhaps the most influential person in San Francisco picking up Brock pie was Brian greasy.

He really pounded the table for Perie, who he thought was the perfect fit for San Francisco’s offense, given how much experience he had, how he approached the game and how his teammates ried behind him in a similar way.

This off season, greasy played a major role in San Fran Isco picking up morai.

Like Prie, Morai played a ton of college football: 6 years in total, throwing for nearly 10,000 yards and an additional 600 on the ground.

From 2018 to 2020, Tanner morai played for the Oklahoma Sooners, competing with the likes of Kyler Murray, Jaylen Herz and Spencer Rattler for the starting job, and while he was never able to fully take over the job, he looked pretty solid in his opportunities.

Once Morai did receive the opportunity to start after transferring to the Smu Mustangs in 2021, he never look back.

During 2 years with Smu, he put up 7,152 passing yards and 72 touchdowns to just 22 interceptions.

Then, during his sole year in Wisconsin in 2023, he continued to play lights out, putting up the most yards and touchdowns he had on the ground in a single year, with 302 and four respectively.

I think one of the better Parts about seeing morai in so many different offenses is seeing how quickly he can pick up an offense and remain productive in it.

He consistently made Solid decisions and had a high completion percentage as well as low interceptions, despite which offense he played on across his entire career.

For instance, he had the completion percentage of 66.4% overall.

I think one of the most important things a quarterback can have is experience, and morai definitely has it, and that’s why Brock pie was able to jump in the Nfl and be successful quickly, and that’s also why morai could be an effective Nfl backup.

But that’s not the only reason.

Morai also has some pretty nice arm Talent.

He has excellent zip and deep ball accuracy and when you watch his spiral, it’s extremely tight, which helps with accuracy and makes it more catchable for the wide receiver.

Another part of Mory’s game that will translate to the Nfl is his ability to remain calm and collected in the pocket.

He’s not freaking out and trying to spin out of there, but rather he’s looking down the field and isn’t afraid to get hit.

This might be the best play to demonstrate what morai does nicely here.

He’s pressured within the pocket, but he keeps his eyes down the field and is able to connect deep with his wide receiver in the end zone.

All of this isn’t to say Morai is the perfect Prospect.

He’s short in the eyes of many Scouts.

Maybe he comes in at 6’2 and he also needs to do a better job of setting up his base.

While throwing on the Move, there’ll be plays in which you see him roll out of the pocket.

His base is too narrow and this causes inaccuracies and his arm strength to fall off a little bit.

Ultimately, morai is like any other rookie.

He still needs to develop and continue to learn Shanahan’s offense.

But he’s everything San Francisco wants out of quarterback.

He’s cheap athletic and and has a similar play style to Brock Pie.

So for me it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see Tanner morai pushing for that second quarterback job for San Francisco headed into this training camp and preseason.

But ultimately these are just my thoughts about San Francisco’s backup quarterback competition, and I’d like to hear your thoughts down below.

Who you think’s going to take over.

Will it be Tanner morai, Brandon Allen or Joshua Dos?

It would also mean a ton, if you liked And subscribe, and, as always, I hope you guys have a great rest of your day.
