Dwayne reposted a video by social media comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr, who sarcastically hit out at the waxwork.

The jokester, who spoke over a snapshot of the rebuked figure, said: โ€˜Thatโ€™s how Paris think he look. They turned The Rock into a pebble. It look like The Rock ainโ€™t never seen the sun a day in his life. Whoever the artist is, donโ€™t need to do no type of art.โ€™

Johnson, who appeared to be amused by the comedianโ€™s commentary, posted the video and accompanied it with a caption to share his own thoughts on his waxwork.

The Jumanji star wrote: โ€˜I knew my boy @jamesjeffersonj had this Rock wax statue in his roasting crosshairs. Legit belly laughed at this.

โ€˜For the record, Iโ€™m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum, in Paris France so we can work at โ€œupdatingโ€ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements โ€“ starting with my skin color.โ€™

He concluded, โ€˜And next time Iโ€™m in Paris, Iโ€™ll stop in and have a drink with myself,โ€™ adding a wink emoji.

The post, which has received over 150,000 likes, saw fans express both their disappointment and confusion at the waxwork.

One fan wrote, โ€˜Looks awful. No character to it at all,โ€™ while another said, โ€˜They made The Rock look more like The Sourdough Loaf.โ€™

A bemused fan also wrote, โ€˜Thatโ€™s not The Rock, thatโ€™s The Glacier,โ€™ while another commented, โ€˜He look like Vin Dieselโ€˜s son.โ€™

One unimpressed commenter said, โ€˜Definitely not his complexion,โ€™ while another asked, โ€˜Whereโ€™s the melanin?โ€™

A bemused The Rock fan said, โ€˜It gotta sit in the sun for a bit,โ€™ while another wrote, โ€˜Nahhhhh they wrong for this Mess!!!โ€™

A final perplexed commenter wrote, โ€˜So yโ€™all are just gonna leave out The Rockโ€™s whole skin tone?? Did yall not look at a pic or anything?? A video?? Ask someone of color their opinion?โ€™

The scultptor behind the wax work, Stรฉphane Barret, stated on The Musรฉe Grรฉvin website that he relied on only photographs to perfect The Rockโ€™s look.

He said: โ€˜What was a little harder for me was the sample photo that was chosen, where he just had a very slight smile on his face, an expression thatโ€™s quite difficult to achieve. It was very subtle.

โ€˜We worked on his face and eyes several times, because the most complicated thing about realism is getting the statue to come alive from the visitorsโ€™ perspective.โ€™
