Naomi Watts on Wednesday commended Tom Holland, who she acted alongside in his very first motion picture, on his career success as Spider-Man.
The English beauty, 53, speaking to ComicBookMovie.com’s Josh Wilding said she was ‘so happy for’ Holland, who she appeared with in the 2012 adventure drama The Impossible.
Watts, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Maria in the film, said she had a premonition Holland, 25, would go on to success in Hollywood.

‘I always knew that Tom would go on and have a pretty outstanding career,’ Watts said. ‘I didnโt think of Spider-Man. Thatโs just, you know, not something that came to mind, but I knew that he had all of the goods.
‘This was a kid who was doing his first movie, had unbelievable access to emotions, had great discipline and whether or not that comes from his dance and athletic background, I donโt know, but he had a really great family too.’
The 21 Grams star commended the people working with Holland, who has played the role of Spider-Man in a series of Marvel blockbusters including 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, 2019’s Spider-Man: Far from Home and 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
‘Theyโre a really solid team of people there supporting him,’ she said. ‘Heโs off on his own now, of course, but just having a really good foundation โฆ youโre going to be up for all of the challenges in our industry that play out if youโve got a good family. It doesnโt surprise me is what Iโm trying to say!’

The film chronicled a family’s struggled while vacationing in Thailand amid the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
Watts can be seen in the The Desperate Hour, which is slated to be released on Friday in theaters and on selected streaming platforms.
