Yungblud just revealed the hilarious moment he met Liam Gallagher โ€” and it didnโ€™t exactly go as planned ๐Ÿ˜‚. According to Yungblud, the Oasis legend thought he was a woman at first!

Yungblud has recalled the time he met Liam Gallagher, and shared that the Oasis legend thought that he was a woman.

The Doncaster-born punk singer recalled his interaction with the Britpop icon during a new interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1, and revealed that Liam Gallagher was pretty fond of his music โ€“ even though he didnโ€™t realise he was a man.

Recalling how he bumped into him at a live show, Yungblud said: โ€œMe and Scottish Adam [Warrington, guitarist] met him backstage once, and he said something about me apparentlyโ€ฆ

โ€œObviously I was wearing skirts on stage at the time. And he goes to Adamโ€ โ€˜What the fuck? What are you doing back here?โ€™ and [Adamโ€™s] like, โ€˜Oh, Iโ€™m just drinking.โ€™ Heโ€™s like, โ€˜You in a band?โ€™ and Adamโ€™s like, โ€œYeah, I play with Yungbludโ€™.

โ€œLiamโ€™s like, โ€˜Ah, fucking hell. Donโ€™t fucking like Yungblud,โ€ and walks off! But then he comes back to him, heโ€™s like, โ€˜I do. Sheโ€™s amazing.โ€™

Yungblud went on to laugh about the misunderstanding, and said it must have been โ€œbecause I was wearing skirts at the timeโ€. He added: โ€œI was like, โ€˜Iโ€™m down with that.โ€™ And honestly, they all came back running to the bus like, โ€˜Youโ€™ll never fucking guess whatโ€™s happened!โ€™โ€

The discussion comes as the singer โ€“ real name Dominic Harrison โ€“ is gearing up to release part one of his double fourth album, โ€˜Idolsโ€™, this Friday (June 20)

In an interview with NME last year, he revealed that the Britpop heavyweights had played a role in inspiring the sound of the new record โ€“ as had The Verve, Primal Scream, Suede, Stone Roses, David Bowie and Madonna.

โ€œItโ€™s that thing in your stomach when you listen to [them],โ€ he shared. โ€œIt makes me feel like I can get up today. It makes me feel like Iโ€™m invincible and that I can do anything โ€“ thatโ€™s what this new album sounds like.โ€

Speaking to NME again this month, Yungblud also shared that his intention going into the โ€˜Idolsโ€™ writing sessions was to make a record that stood the test of time โ€“ drawing inspiration from the likes of  Stevie Nicks, Elton John and Pink Floyd.

โ€œThe world doesnโ€™t need another surface-level album,โ€ he said. โ€œEven if this isnโ€™t commercially successful, thatโ€™s the risk I wanted to take with it. If I donโ€™t release a piece of art with this depth, Iโ€™ll be overlooked forever.โ€

โ€œThis album was all about self-reclamation โ€“ who the fuck is Dom?โ€ he added. โ€œIโ€™m trying to go home [more often], to see my mother, my sisters and fucking feel that energy of the northโ€ฆ it inevitably shows you who you are.โ€

The record has been described as his โ€œmost ambitiousโ€ yet and will follow on from his 2022 self-titled third album. So far, the first part of โ€˜Idolsโ€™ has been previewed with the singles โ€˜Hello Heaven, Helloโ€™ and โ€˜Lovesick Lullabyโ€™.

To celebrate the release, Harrison will be embarking on a UK and Ireland arena tour in 2026 โ€“ and you can buy any remaining tickets here.

Those huge shows will come after a brief run of โ€˜Up Close And Personalโ€™ UK dates this summer, as well as headline tours across North America and Europe, and a huge second edition of his own festival, BludFest, which takes place in Milton Keynes on June 21.
