Beyond the Rumors: Draymond Green’s Candid Insights on Recent Warriors Trade Speculations and the Team’s Future.

Warriors veteran Draymond Green is finally back in action after serving a suspension this season, but what comes next is anyone’s guess as the NBA’s trade deadline approaches. With the Warriors reeling, Draymond knows that desperation is high right now and that pretty much everyone is on the table this season…

“There have been a lot of trade rumors, I know my name has come up. I know everyone’s name has come up except for Stephen Curry,” said Draymond on his self-titled podcast. “To be honest, I haven’t thought about it one bit. I hear all the same things that you guys hear. I know we were linked to Pascal Siakam… but I mean if you’re 18-22, how can you question anything someone does? But we’ve never been an active team at the trade deadline.. over 12 years.”

Of course, Pascal Siakam is off the board now after recently being traded to the Indiana Pacers but there are still plenty of other players that the Warriors could pursue. One way or another, they’ll need to make some kind of change as their current struggles have them on track to miss the postseason completely.

It wasn’t long ago that the Warriors were in the glory days of their historic dynasty. With four championships over the course of eight years, the Dubs have a lot to be proud of for what they accomplished. That success, however, is in the past now and the Warriors are struggling to recapture that magic.

Thanks to an aging core and inconsistent supporting cast, the Warriors have been a shell of themselves all season long and nobody is sure when or if they will recover. Klay Thompson, who was huge for them during the title years, has seen a massive decline in play following several years of season-ending injuries. Andrew Wiggins, who was fantastic in the 2022 championship, has been M.I.A. this season with no signs of life. Then there’s Draymond Green, who has barely played at all due to suspensions. With all of these components, it’s created a perfect storm of chaos in Golden State, and not even Stephen Curry can make it better.

If the Warriors want to extend their title window and get Steph some help as soon as possible, they will need to make a trade this season to mix up the rotation. With names like Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and Andrew Wiggins potentially available, it’s clear that the Warriors are serious about change but it goes beyond that. According to the latest reports, “everyone” but Steph is available, meaning Draymond Green, Kevon Looney, or even Klay Thompson could be traded for the right package. Depending on what the Warriors are willing to offer, it could be enough to bring in high-impact players like Kyle Kuzma, Alex Caruso, Julius Randle, or Myles Turner.

At this point, it is anyone’s guess what the Warriors will do come February, but all bets are off when it comes to new GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. As the new captain of the front office, he has the chance to break tradition for the Warriors and make a midseason trade for the sake of saving this final chapter with Curry. Only time will tell how it all plays out for the Warriors, but there is a sense that nothing is off the table for them, given how badly they’ve been playing recently.
