Basketball Legend Dwyane Wade Once Admitted the Risk of Bankruptcy Due to Gambling

Dwyane Wade’s brilliant basketball career helped him bring in a lot of money, but managing and using that money effectively is something that not many players can do. Unfortunately, the Miami Heat legend is among the majority.

In an interview on the Men’s Health channel, Wade frankly admitted that he was having major financial problems due to gambling addiction: “There were times when I wanted to get out of the house, away from my room to avoid gambling. Online gambling. My financial advisor called me and said that I had a huge problem with constantly spending money playing Poker.

Dwyane Wade admitted to losing a lot of money because of Poker as well as on flights during his playing days

I admit that I have been an avid gambler since I was competing. You know flights are a part of my life and that of my teammates. What will we do on flights? We bonded over gambling and most of the time I lost, a lot of money.

Of course it’s nothing compared to the money I earn, that subjectivity makes me addicted to gambling. And now that I have retired, it is a very big problem for me. I have a lot of free time and then use it to gamble.”

In the NBA, Dwyane Wade is certainly not the first, nor the last, addicted to gambling. This problem has been going on for a long time and it of course depends on the individual awareness of each player.

The Miami Heat legend is overcoming his gambling addiction by spending more time with family and work

However, luckily for this 1982-born defender, he has started a new job to avoid “unwholesome idleness”. Flash was accepted to work at TNT, a television show about basketball. In his free time at home, he and his wife take care of their young daughter Gabrielle Union. The busyness makes Wade temporarily forget his desire for Poker.
