Candid trailer unveiled for new Ozzy Osbourne documentary, ‘Ozzy: No Escape From Now’

Paramount+ have shared the trailer for their upcoming documentary on the late Black Sabbath icon, Ozzy Osbourne.

Ozzy: No Escape From Now is set to be released on October 7th in the United States. The film has been directed by Tania Alexander, and Paramount said in a statement that the documentary was made “in collaboration with the Osbourne family”.

In the candid trailer, Sharon Osbourne explains how “Ozzy’s big regret is that he never really said goodbye to his fans”. It also features his children, Jack, Aimee and Kelly discussing their father’s health problems after breaking his neck, with Jack stating, “After the surgery, he’s far worse”.

The film also documents how Ozzy recorded his final studio album, 2021’s Patient Number Nine, despite suffering from mobility issues that left him unable to tour. Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, who contributed to the record, says in the trailer, “Kelly was very emotional, ‘That was my dad again. Oh my god, he’s having a great time’. Well, of course, he’s making music. He’s doing what he loves to do.”

Ozzy: No Escape From Now charts the build-up to his grand farewell concert in Birmingham at Villa Park, which took place just weeks before his death on July 22nd. It features contributions from Tony Iommi, Billy Corgan, Chad Smith, Zakk Wylde, James Hetfield, Robert Trujillo, Billy Idol, Tom Morello and Duff McKagan.

The Black Sabbath singer poignantly reflects towards the end of the trailer, “If my life is coming to an end, I can’t complain. I’ve had a great life.”

Meanwhile, the BBC’s documentary on Osbourne’s last three years, which was originally set to be broadcast on August 18th, has been re-titled Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, and confirmed for release on October 2nd.

The BBC previously said of the delay: “Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time. We are respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film. The new transmission date will be confirmed shortly.”
