In Erik ten Hag’s pursuit of midfield depth in the wake of Casemiro and Mason Mount’s injuries, Manchester United are reportedly “considering a move for Atalanta midfielder ‘NEWS STAR’

According to reports, Ederson, a Brazilian midfielder currently playing for Atalanta, is a target for Manchester United’s January transfer window.

Despite ‘considering a move for the Atalanta midfielder,’ United have ‘not yet initiated talks’ to recruit the 24-year-old, as reported by Goal.

This comes at a time when Erik ten Hag is trying to shore up his midfield after losing Casemiro and Mason Mount to ιnjury.

Casemiro had a hamstring ιnjury and Mount a calf ιnjury; both players may be able to return to United action in January.

According to Goal, Manchester United is ‘considering sending a proposal in the summer window’ to acquire Ederson. ‘The scenario may proceed in the following days,’ they add, adding that the club has already contacted the Brazilian’s representation.

After leaving Salernitana for Atalanta in 2022, Ederson made 60 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring six goals.

Also, he has been an integral part of Atalanta’s strong play this season, starting 17 of his 18 Serie A games. As a result, Atalanta finished sixth in the league, only four points behind fourth place.

He would be on the books of Corinthians, Cruzeiro, and Fortaleza, all of Brazil, before making his way to Italy in 2022 to sign with Salernitana.

Before his contract with Atalanta expires in June of 2026, he joined for Salernitana for £13 million; Goal thinks he’ll be worth more than that now.

United are expected to be busy in the next transfer window, with rumors suggesting that Ten Hag is also trying to bolster Rasmus Hojlund’s оffensive options.

United are supposedly in the market for a number of forwards, including Serhou Guirassy, a sensation at Stuttgart, and Timo Werner.

Reportedly, Ten Hag wants to keep his ability to veto any transfers he doesn’t like, a stipulation that was originally inserted into his contract when he joined the club. This comes after Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought a 25% stake in the team.
