Katy Perry dropped a major dose of glamour on Tuesday night. The singer, 30, joined designer Jeremy Scott, 40, at the premiere of his new documentary, Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer in Hollywood.

Perry made her grand entrance at the TCL Chinese IMAX theater in a black dress from Scott’s Moschino line, paired with statement dangers and coordinating shoes. While the pop star displayed ample cleavage, her go-to designer showed just as much skin in a matching suit which showed off his pecs.

“Yes, we’re matching — we’re twinning,” Perry joked. “I think that’s the word on the streets these days, and Jeremy is just so kind to let me borrow things. I turn into a pumpkin after midnight.” Scott was quick to point out that Perry is the “most beautiful pumpkin you’ve ever seen, though.”

In the midst of all the excitement, the duo made time for a hand-printing ceremony and reflected on their connection as artist and muse. “We have such a wonderful longevity of history,” Scott said. “For me, I love coming in and turning up the volume on all of the wonderful things she does, all of the wonderful things she’s trying to say.”

Perry returned the praise, saying she’s drawn to Scott’s authenticity. “I like when people go against the grain and are a little bit of a black sheep or something, and Jeremy is kind of like — he’s got this sense of
humor and he stays true to himself,” she said. “He doesn’t say a game for any industry and I think that’s really refreshing, and I’m just drawn to his kindness and overall perspective on life.”

Perry has seen Scott’s talent at work on countless looks over the years, but it’s not hard for her to pinpoint the highlights. “My favorite was definitely the flame for the Super Bowl because I felt really lit and I felt like I was a torch — like I was bringing fire throughout the Super Bowl,” she said, referring to her halftime show in February. “I loved wearing the Met Ball dress. The very first costume that he let me borrow was an ice cream dress by Jeremy Scott.”

As for the common thread in all the Scott designs she’s donned, Perry said she’s drawn to his playful edge. “Everything has a sense of humor and I just love that because I never really take myself too seriously at all,” she said. “Actually, I felt really serious tonight, like this was a big deal putting our hands in cement.”

According to Scott, his collaborations with Perry play a major role in his movie, which is set for release on Sept. 18. “Katy is the arc of the film,” he said. “When you see it you’ll understand. There are also these iconic moments, like her on the field at the Super Bowl … You have the iconic moment of the Met Gala on the stairs and me kissing her hand, you have us in the car [with me acting] nervous and her making me laugh and putting me at ease.”
