Dwayne Johnson was born on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California, to wrestler Rocky Johnson and Ata Johnson (née Maivia). His father is of Black Nova Scotian descent, and his mother is of Samoan descent. Growing up in a wrestling family, Johnson began training to be a wrestler at a young age. He attended Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where he excelled in football, track, and wrestling.
